This board is for those “regular folks” who have a serious interest in firearms and the shooting sports. We’re a pretty laid back bunch, so feel free to pull up a crate and chat. We do have a few rules, in order to maintain the integrity of the board, and assure that each Member is treated with respect. These rules are:

GENERAL RULES

  1. Stay civil. No profanity, personal attacks, or flames toward a person or group. (If you can't say it on network television, we don't want to see it on the boards).
  2. No discussion of illegal activities (like bombings, “getting” someone, etc).
  3. No spamming - Stay on-topic and maintain mature, constructive conversation.
  4. Use only ONE username. Use of multiple usernames will be considered spam.
  5. Trolling is forbidden and Trolls will be banned on sight.

COPYRIGHT RULES

  1. As a general rule, users are only allowed to post text and/or images that they own. If you wrote it or you snapped the photo, then you are within the rules. Reposting a cool image from another site that's relevant here is not allowed.
  2. Fair use allows limited reposting of others' content, but this is an increasingly grey area in the online world. The US Copyright Office has guidelines, but they are imperfect at best. While many of us were taught that "a paragraph or two" was a reasonable use, there are instances where even this may qualify as copyright infringement depending on the length of the original publication.
  3. Because fair use is such a grey area, we would strongly encourage users who wish to refer to material owned by others to post the links to other sites along with their own brief summary of the content they are linking to. If appropriate, you may, as an alternative or addition, quote a sentence or two from the site you are linking to, but this should not exceed one paragraph of copied text.
  4. By posting here, you are granting us a perpetual, irrevocable license to post your comments on Family, Friends & Firearms website. You are agreeing that we may edit your posts, allow others to quote them in their own posts, and modify the format as necessary as this site and technology mature. Once your posts are a part of the site they can be very difficult to remove without destroying the value of the threads you participated in, so you are acknowledging up front that we may refuse to remove your posts should you ask us to do so.

USERNAME RULES

  1. All messages you post will include your "user name." This may be your real name or a "handle" (nickname or pseudonym).
  2. If you choose to use a handle, it may not be the name of a living person or a name likely to be confused with that of a living person.
  3. If you register using a real name other than your own, or if the user name you choose contains offensive or misleading elements, your account will be canceled and you will be banned from future participation at this site.

CONDUCT RULES

  1. Messages posted to this board must be polite and free of personal attacks, threats, and crude or sexually-explicit language.
  2. Inappropriate or offensive graphics, user names, or profile entries are not permitted.
  3. Messages should be relatively short and to the point. Do not post lengthy replies (including replies that consist largely of quotes from an earlier message).
  4. Do not view the discussion area as a vehicle for single-mindedly promoting an agenda.
  5. Anti-Gunowners are welcome to participate but must be respectful of the beliefs & positions held by the pro-gunowners participating on the board since it it their board.

CONTENT RULES

  1. Do not post others’ e-mail addresses or private e-mail sent by them unless they give you permission to do so.
  2. Do not post copyrighted material.
  3. Do not post material from unapproved private revelations.
  4. Do not post personal phone numbers and addresses.
  5. Do not post anything that can be construed as spam.
  6. Do not post anything that can be construed as a commercial advertisement or contains any form of commercial solicitation.

DISCUSSION FORUMS

  1. Messages posted to threads should be on-topic. If you wish to discuss another topic, start a new thread.
  2. Do not pad your post count with chatty or off-topic messages.

PRIVATE MESSAGING

  1. If you have something to say to an individual member that is not of general interest to the board, use the private messaging system.
  2. Inappropriate or harassing private messages are not permitted.
  3. Private messages ARE subject to edit & review by staff at any time without notice - Just to clarify, like any other message in our forums, these messages are stored in the forums database. While these messages are considered private and personal, they are not considered secret from the staff. The administrators are able to view these messages if so required by law enforcement agencies or in cases where illegal activities or severe rule infringement is reported or reasonably suspected. The administrative staff will respect your privacy in the use of this function while at the same time insuring the safety and comfort of all members. If we need to see your PMs, we will be able to see them, if we don't need to see them, we won't. You have a reasonable expectation of privacy here, but not to the degree that it will become a risk or liability to the Staff or other members here. We will view your PMs under very serious matters and will only act on PMs directly related to the matter we are investigating. All others will be left alone. Your PM inbox is not going to be Sunday afternoon reading material for a bored Admin.

ENFORCEMENT

  1. Reports of infractions of these rules should be submitted to the moderators by private messaging.
  2. Material that violates the rules may be edited or deleted without prior notice.
  3. Moderator actions are not open to public debate. Judgments by the Moderators can be discussed with the Moderators via private messaging but not on the board itself.
  4. Users who persistently violate the rules will be banned.

The above rules are subject to change without notice. Violations of these rules will result in ONE warning. If that isn’t effective, the offender will be banned from the board. We reserve the right to ban immediately someone posting a flagrant flame or spam. The decision of the Staff is final. You may appeal for reinstatement. Such appeal will be discussed by Staff, and if merited, you may be reinstated. But only once.
