Tactical knives and the Real World

Almost all of the talk about RKBA has been about firearms. But at the time the BoR was written, knives and swords were still primary weapons. But in the US, the rights as they relate to knives, have been even more restricted than gun rights. In some places today, anything with a blade over 2 1/2" is illegal. Try taking NAIL CLIPPERS on a plane. If we aren't careful, we will find a whole body of LAW created and enacted around knife ownership that will be used as the basis for similar Gun legislation.

IMHO, it's time for us to realize that Knives are Arms too and to fight knife restrictions with the same vigor and effort that we fight gun restriction.

JMHO & YMMV

jim,
IIRC, weren't the earliest anti RKBA laws written that banned the Bowie style knives and not firearms?

yes they sure did. And it hasn't changed much. In some places a 3" blade is now illegal.

Bernard Levine wrote a good article on knives and the law a while back in Blade. It appears on my website here (http://home.att.net/~philelmore/ledge.html).
