Recieved a new fighting knife today. Bought it from the first owner, and its a perfect example of custom knives, on a budget.

Its made by Steve Mullin, from Idaho. http://www.mullin-custom-knives.com/
It cost me $100, plus $20 for the shipping I wanted to be used to get it to me. Thats, all told, less than a great number of Benchmade folding knives cost, and only $30 or so dollars above what some CRKT knives cost.
The knife is in excellent condition, the only thing not original, is the finish. Originally bead-blasted, the owner gave it a hand-rubbed satin finish, which I like a lot better anyway.
The blade is 3/16" thick D2 Tool Steel, 6 inches long. The guard is blasted stainless steel, and the handle is black canvas micarta.
The "false" edge in sharpened, and is just as sharp as the main edge.
It balances right at the guard, like I think it should.
Very comfortable in my hand, and pretty grippy feeling handle. Moves fast.
It still had the original edge on it when I got it, and was capable of cutting edge to edge on a paper towel, hanging from the roll, with minimal tearing... at least before I wore the edge to a lesser sharpness doing things like that over and over again. :)
Fit and finish is excellent, even witht he post-maker satin finish job. The handle/guard/blade join is "seamless"... very clean, and without gaps, very tight.
The leather sheath is not the best piece of sheath work I've ever seen,b ut it is a long ways away from the worst. Its functional, and pretty stout, and I think it has it where it really counts. Although I will probably do another sheath for it, out of leather... and I am considering having some kydex done, perhaps a shoulder rig, since I've always wanted to try one. But it doesnt NEED it... it is a grea tknife witht he sheath it has.
For a $100 knife, I am very pleased :-D
