What knife for a Formal 'Que??

Now everyone knows that you can't take just any ole gun to a Full Dress, Formal Barbeque. You gotta have something with some class. Maybe a 1917 with custom burled grips, or a M-28 that is so blue you think the sky rubbed off on it.

Well, same hold for your knife. You can't take some ole ratty plastic handled pointy thing, you need a Dress Tactical. Well, here's my latest dress tacticals. The first is from the Australian knifemaker David Brodziak, The blade is 440C and the handle is Ebony with White Corian insert and butt.

This next one is from Terry Primos that lives down Shreveport way. Some folks say that's far east Texas, but I'm not too sure. I do know that some of the knifemakers from there are most definitely Texas boys even if they don't know it.

Anyway, this is his idea of a Dress Tactical. The handle is Thuya Burl but I think it looks right smart anyway. The blade is 4" long, was hand forged and double edged. Top one is a chisel edge and the bottom a conventional double grind. The balance is right behind the guard and it's light, strong and fast.

You folks what gets BLADE Magazine, keep an eye out for this one. There supposed to have a story 'bout this one and two others coming up.

Very nice, but Jim, you're making an addict out of me. :p I've been to Brodziak's web page - talk about sweet... (please excuse the drool) and I've checked out a few others you've suggested too... I now have 2 "penny" jars (there are a few pennies in each, but I prefer dropping in Susan Bs :D). One jar for future gun purchases and one for future knife purchases. ;) :D :D :D

Beautiful Jim! That Primos is really nice, I love the etched blade and highly visible temper line.

Both very nice pieces. :)

I do my best to build good barbeque guns but, heretofore, had never given any thought to a barbeque knife. But, like Miquela, some of the folks here are getting me into that train of thought. For years my grown son has been a blade aficionado for some time now. But not since the last year have I gotten the itch. I blame certaint folks here in the Triple F family for that. ;)

Rusty, you've got to upload the picture to an online host before you can post it like that... cant post directly from your hard disk.

I've been using www.hunting-pictures.com (http://www.hunting-pictures.com) for my host lately...
Just sign up, upload the pics, and then you've got them hosted, and can post 'em all you like. :)

Give a holler if you have any other problems, myself or someone else should be able to help ya out.

Maybe this will do long as it ain't too formal a shindig. You need a kothimoda to go white tie. :D

Try once more now. Got it? I think so.
