Rare Makarov

Hi Peoples,
The man with a Son Tao like obession for Makarovs is once again amongst you. :) I too have the "perfect Gun" mentality, only I have a different idea what said gun should be. I have just aquired my latest piece, a NIB Norinco Type 59. For those of you who are not aware, the Type 59 is the Makarov produced by our "friends" the Chinese. To my certain knowledge, it is still issued to the People's Army. Ha! I have one!!!! :p Thanks to our dear departed President, Vladimir Klintonov, Type 59's in this country are somewhat rare. I have no idea what this fine example of Communist workmanship is worth. I have no idea how it shoots. I probably will never know, because I have decided to leave it in it's pristine condition. Well, enough brag.

Congrats! Can you post a picture? Does the pistol have import marks, and if so, what is it marked? How much did it set you back?

I don't know how you folks do it. I mean how in the world do you have the discipline to buy a new pistol, and not shoot it?! That Mak would have been to the range the day I had it in my hands, Chinese or not!

My dealer got in a couple Russian Militarys, mixed in with his Bulgarians. I was tempted, but since there was no way I'd be able to keep it "unfired", I passed.

Congrats!

I picked up an unissued 1955 Bulgarian a few weeks ago. Still had the cosmoline all over it. I was tempted to leave it as is... for about 30 seconds. LOL Too much had been said about what great little shooters these babies are. So I cleaned it up and ran 50 through her. WOW! What a sweetie. Will I shoot much more through her? Probably not. I wanted one for teh collection and I had to know how it shoots. But it will be relegated to collection status much like the Browning El Capitan and all the Automatic Knives. :)

Lok,
I have four others I can shoot. It's not that big of a deal. ;)

The weapon cost me $200 out the door. In order to see the import marks, I will have to take it out of it's little plastic bag, and unwrap it. Same thing with a picture. I have not had any luck posting pictures from my so-called website. Everybody seems to be able to do it, except me.

Not shoot a Mak?!? Isn't that some kind of sin against handguns and there purpose in life? Im with Gus here, that puppy would have been at the range within 12 hours of being in my hands.

Bubba- Brother we gotta talk about automatic knives one of these days. :)

I have a 9x18 Miltex Special Edition which I picked up NIB. It is polished chrome - a really pretty one. Everyone tells me to shoot it, but I haven't yet.
