Whether fueled by speculation of gun control or because of supply hoarders, some Killeen-area retailers are seeing an ammunition shortage.
"It's been busy for quite some time, but in the last month, I've noticed that when I call the distributors, there's really nothing available," Guns Galore Manager David Cheadle said.

Over two years ago I recall grumblings of ammo shortages, they being primarily .223 and 9MM cartridges, and a trip to a very large and well used shooting range disclosed a "packed house" that day. I would estimate that 95% of the rifles being shot that day were AR types and of course 9MM pistols galore. All up and down the firing lines (4 different ranges in this outdoor facility) it was raining brass, and during the better part of 4 hours only myself and my sons were retrieving my BR.303, 30-06, SAA & 1911 .45 brass, along with .357 cases.
When we left I was amazed at the tens of thousands of once-fired .223 & 9MM brass left behind. The range evidently does a brisk business selling these re-loadable gems, so I suspect the only people who complain the most about ammo shortages are those gun owners who don't reload and only consume ammo.
Though I've scored many serviceable once-fired range brass to augment my inventories of 30-06, .45 ACP and .38 Spec./.357 Mag., it has always been slim-to-no pickins' in regards to .45 Colt.
But, I've never experience an "ammo shortage"......ever!
I am sure there are a lot of people stocking up.

I'd say he's calling the wrong distributors.

I have a 6mm-.284 wildcat and it is impossible to find any W-W brass for it. Why should they make the brass when they can sell carloads of .223 and 9mm? My only choice now is Lapua 6.5-.284 which is over a dollar apiece or Privi Partizan, which is perpetually backordered.

The shelves behind the girl in the picture looked stocked compared to what I remeber 3 years ago. Sounds like fear mongering again.

The half dozen or so gun shops I've been in over the last 2 or 3 months do not seem to have trouble with finding ammo. I buy most of mine over the internet and haven't noticed any shortages. Maybe not all lines of each brand are in stock, but that's normal. I think Popeye's on to something - they aren't calling the right distributors.

Loaded ammunition prices are falling and sales are brisk. At least once a week we have a 48' semi load of ammunition delivered to the shop.

Ammo is available here in every caliber I need. Prices seem to be steady.
I have notice at one of the Wal Marts I go to some of the prices seem to be up a little bit but there does seem to be plenty at least in the most common cal.
