It's good to know I'm not the only one with this gut filling about buying guns.

With the nicer weather rolling in, I've observed the exact opposite. Prior to Easter we were selling upwards to a dozen or more guns a day. During the past couple of weeks we were down to a handful or less a day.

Well most people getting refunds file their taxes way before April 15th. Maybe that's why you noticed it earlier and the lamestream media is just catching up?
We filed ours February 1st. Of course we have child in college that needed our tax information for financial aid forms too. (Although to her credit she takes the bare minimum out in loans and has a full time job along with being a full time student.)

Most people that receive refunds tend to file earlier them others. This results is purchases of more expensive items before Easter.

Talked with the owner of one of my favorite gun shops. He says there's a boost in gun sales right now, but he says that's always the case when tax returns come in. I haven't seen evidence of a gun (or ammo) buying frenzy here - especially like what happened when obama was elected.
I am always ready to buy a new gun.:D

In California, the firearms business is doing quite well. On average, between 1000 and 1500 background checks for firearms purchases are done statewide every day. The last year, or so, it has been between 2000 and 2500 done daily.
Our business has increased to the point where we have had to hire two more full time employees. In the past two years four new gun stores have opened in the area. None have closed.
