Hey all,

Jody has been wanting to get her CHL and picked out a new pistol for her carry gun today. S&W M&P Shield in 9mm, first one I can remember seeing. Neat gun, appears tough like the full size, single stack mags, good sights and a darn decent trigger (better than the S&W Sigma by far) this gun is only about an inch wide, maybe 6 and 1/2 inches long one mag holds 7 rounds (flush fit) and an extended mag that holds 8. She liked the way it felt in her hands and the trigger was comfortable for her. We'll more than likely hit the range tomorrow and I'll give a range report after returning. As long as the recoil isn't bad this gun should be perfect for her!

Here is a picture of the 40 cal version

She is considering one of the flashbang holsters for it.

Edited to add: She did look at several guns, Beretta Nano, Kahr (don't remember the model), Taurus Mill Pro 9MM, 2 different Walther 380s, A Sig P238 and several others. This is the one she liked the best.

Dave,
I've been very impressed with the M&P line. I bought the 40C for my daughter and she loves it.
I'm sure you're aware, but one thing to work on is exactly where the trigger reset is located.

I have an M&P 9c and I'm very happy with the accuracy of this pistol. I'm sure the Shield will be a great pistol for your wife. One thing to look at would be the trigger pre travel. With mine if you prep the trigger it's accurate as all get out and since they are suppose have improved the trigger on the Shield she should have no problems. Enjoy!!!

I have been reading a lot about the Shield--almost all of it good.
I do like the 9mm over the .40 though it appears I am in the minority.
She should do well with it.
Main thing is she picked it.
Blessings

Guess I am in that minority also because I like the 9.

i was not aware of and had to internet search "flashbang holster"..........in my circles, a flashbang is a distraction device......

:magnify:

Well she shot her new gun today! She put about 150 rounds through it and I put another 50 or so through it. It shoots pretty darn good, a little low at this point but nothing that is a big deal. Her is a picture of her shooting it.

She was able to keep nice tight groups. This is the first time in years she was able to shoot that much from a gun other than her High Standard 22lr and not have the shoulder get sore. Like I said before she picked the gun she wanted and I was just there to give advise or answer a question if asked. She did good!

What was it the guy used to say on "A Team"? "I love it when a plan comes together?"

I have a full size Smith M&P in 40 and just love it. And the trigger is a definate improvement over the Sigma, shes got a keeper there.
