It is a personal pet peeve of mine when most folks think The Lord of the Rings is three movies. It's three BOOKS, %^@#&* it. And, while the Kindle et al have some good points, there will never be a substitute for spending an afternoon in an old, musty Half-Price bookstore and walking out with an armload full for $20.

There is a used bookstore in downtown S.L.C. that I have difficulty getting
out of for less than 75 dollars!

Daily newspaper and 3 long cups of coffee to ease into the days now. And a book at night for relaxation and recharging without computer or television at nights end.

I wonder when public libraries will finally succumb?

I love my kindle, I don't deny it. HOWEVER! I love BOOKS, paper is great (and enduring) and electronic is tidier. We have a couple of used bookstores downtown that we generally 'visit' at least once a week - and we NEVER go home empty handed! Our problem is that we ran out of bookshelf space YEARS ago. We have books on books, books in front of books, books stacked on the top, books stacked on the floor... Love books!

Some of the books on it are way cheaper and more affordable. I don't put light reading on them. I also bet that I spend $100 for books most months.

On a related note, I used to get frustrated or angry with my mom- she'd NEVER tell me what a new word meant. "Look it up."

But, I still do it. I look 'em up.

One of the best gifts my wife ever bought me was one of those huge, unabridged, pedestal-in-a-library type dictionaries. Of course, that was like an hour before Algore invented the internet, so it hasn't been used much. Google and Answers.com both have toolbars, and are quicker and easier.

I'm hopeful that my 7 year old granddaughter has the right mind to appreciate it, one day. I think there's a thinker starting to show through the 'Princess'.
