I had a bad dream last night. A psycho killer was after me, and I only barely managed to evade him and make it to my room. But when I got there, somebody had taken my guns, and I was helpless. Just as the killer kicked in my door and drew down on me, I was jarred awake by the phone ringing. Whew!
The symbolism was not lost on me. I feel sorry for people trapped in a nightmare, of a killer loose in a gun free zone, where honest citizens must be disarmed and defenseless, while the killers laugh at the law and the no gun signs, and the place is full of sitting ducks, er, uhm, innocent people. Unable to defend, often unable to flee, unable to do anything but die, unless a miracle happens, and you somehow get passed over, or the killer's gun jams. Even if you live, did the person next to you? Did your friends, spouse, kids, parents, whoever was with you or near you? If not where was the miracle for them. Where were the armed and responsible honest citizens that could have stopped him? Some refused to enter. The others were sitting all around you, just as helpless as you, because politicians passed laws to disarm them. Laws that only honest obey, and killers only laugh at.
I never want to feel that helplessness in real life. I will never voluntarily patronize a business that requires me, by force of law, to be defenseless to do business with them, unless it is an absolute necessity to do so. And I will never support any politicians that want to make me a helpless victim anywhere, or everywhere, including my own home.
