Some of you know I have been waiting on my Kimber to return from MD Labs where it has been undergoing radical changes. It finally arrived this morning. So far so good.

I know it's a bit early .... but, you are going to the range today to find-out if it shoots as "good" as it looks, aren't you?

LOL...

John Henry.....

UPS arrived yesterday at 10:10.....

On the fireing line at 10:20..... :D :D

I don't feel right about reviewing the work with only 100 rounds through it. I was playing hookie from work and only had about 20 minutes with the pistol yesterday. A much longer session is planed for this afternoon.

What I can tell you so far is that it runs like a dream. I have shot a number of 1911s that claimed to have great triggers. Compaired to this one, they were all mush. I have never felt a trigger like this in my life. Talk about the preverbial glass rod... oh my... :)

The Ashely's will take some adjustment. You just have a bit different sight picture with them. It's not a 6 o'clock hold on the top of the dot with Ashely sights. The point of impact is actually the center of the dot. At 7 and 10 yards, this was not that big of a deal. At 20 and 25, I was a bit low. I was aiming at ocular head shots and was tearing out the throat. This is just an adjustment I need to make in the sight picture. I did notice even in low light (the fireling line lights were all dead on the range yesterday) the front dot was very easy to pick up quickly. We'll see how it works in full light today.

Stay tuned.

I thought that looked like the Mad Dog grips. Yours is the first Hard Use makeover I've seen. Congratulations! Give us some more reports farther down the line.

You know sensop.... you may be right. Now that I think about it, it may be only the second full "Hard Use" 1911 created; Kevin's SA being the first. They have done a lot of upgrades for other folks with a number of these same features. But this MAY be the only full "Hard Use" 1911 conversion that has been released out of the shop. There was a "Hard Use" Browning Hi-Power that is already out there. I know this is the first "Operator" variant.

This design has turned out to be very popular. Steve and I colaborated on this one. I wanted this.. he suggested that... And we came up with what we thought was a pretty good design. Kevin was training some people on the east coast. The "attendees" ;) loved the concept and ordered several. Thus, the "Operator" designation. :D They worked out a number of kinks while building mine. So I guess you could say this is the prototype unit.

Off to the range shortly.
