We all know that pistol models come and go. I am just wondering what pistol models that are no longer made, if any,do you truly miss? I miss the recent production halt by Beretta of the "D" model 92/96 pistols. I also miss the P-38, even though you could pick them up as used surplus. :(

Without a doubt, the Smith & Wesson 3913TSW ...
http://fud-files.netfirms.com/image/private/guns/f01.jpg
... When S&W first came out with their Tactical line, they took the 3913 and in addition to making other improvements to it, chopped it down by about a half inch in both height and length creating IMHO the ultimate compact pistol -- anything smaller and you start getting into "sub-compact / pocket pistol" size.

Then, a couple of years later, they re-introduced the 3913TSW by returning it to it's original size and adding a stupid equipment rail (where's the logic in putting an equipment rail on a CCW) ...
http://www.smith-wesson.com/images/firearms/standard/3913tsw.jpg
... Seeing this happen, I ran out and purchased as many of the older NIB 3913TSW's that I could find ...

The Ruger Speed Six.

Ruger Security and Speed line. They were, IMHO, the best handguns Ruger ever made.

Ones that I would REALLY like to see.

I'd love to see STAR return to the US market.

STAR UltraStar on bottom, SiG 225 on top.

I'd love to see the P-38 (not really the P-1, didn't like that as much) built again.

How about SiG making their single action revolvers again?

Finally, wouldn't it be nice if S&W and COLT brought back the 1917's.

I had handles but, wasn't able to purchasea firestar before they quit making it. and think I'd like to have one.

The other are mostly for curiosity sake. The gyro jet and whats the one that fired the trounds, caseless ammo that loaded into a cylinder from a magazine in the butt. Dont' really need those but always wanted to experience them .

And the charter arms bull dog pug 44 spec. that one may be made again but, I hear bad things about the line.

The Dardak(sp) fired the trounds, not caseless but plastic ovate triangular cases the completely surrounded the cartridge. The pistols came in .38 and .22 with conversion units for either caliber. Rifles and large caliber machine guns/cannon were designed too.

The pistol that was but never was, the Mag-Matic, invented by John Powers of Davisburg, MI. A semi-auto .44 Magnum pistol. It looked like a Colt Woodsman on steriods. Interchangable barrels by loosening a set screw. Only a few pistols were produced by John and even fewer ever got into the public's hands. A much better pistol than the Automag and it used standard rimmed .44 S&W Magnum ammo.

What I'd like to see, is the Randall left handed 1911 brought back. A true left hand 1911 pistol, even the magazines were left hand. I had a pair of Randalls, right and left hand that I let go at a gun show. (I thought I would be able to replace them, little did I know) The only thing out of the Randall stuff I kept were several normal magazines.

Edited to add:
1: The Star PD.
2: The 1905 Colt .45 pistol, just for the collectors value (even though my twin link .38 Auto is fun to shoot.)
3: The 3/4 sized 1911 in 9.8mm that Colt and JMB designed and Peters Cartridge Company produced ammunition for. Make the pistol in .40S&W, not much difference in the case size or pressures.
4: The Colt "hammerless" .32 and .380 automatics.
5: The Remington M-51.

Geez, I guess I'm the only one with the "cheap" guns that I like. The one that I will miss is the:

KelTec .40

Discontinued due to WHIMPS! It seems that "people were returning the guns due to the power and the inability to handle the gun which cause them to experience pain".... whimps!

Of course, the Ingram comes to mind, as well as the Tec9 (original). I guess I'm the only one who likes most of the "underdogs" of guns.

BREN TEN, and Smith's full line of 10mm autos. Oh, heck, just about all the discontinued 10mms.

USP, you're not the only one that miss good cheap guns. My South African TZ-99 comes to mind. It's a well made SIG clone, that sold in the mid $200 range (with 2 15 round factory mags). Oh, and what about the beloved Makarov? Sure, there is still a lot of surplus around, but am I correct in assuming that the pistol is no longer made?

I miss the old blued S&Ws.

I'd like to see the Colt Woodsman back. And maybe the Diamondback as well.

The Savage Camper version of their .22/.410 Model 24.

I miss the old blued pinned and recessed S&W revolvers. And I would have liked to try the Colt CCO.

Boy! Am I ever grateful for the 38 Super 220's I bought when they were Browning BDA's. They are tough as hell and the best Super's I have ever had.

Wellll.....................

1. Pre 64 Winchester Model 70's.
2. Any 70 series Colt 1911
3. Astra 400 in 9mm Largo (Even thought they shoot 9mm Para & .38 Super in a pinch.)

4. A real Colt Python. Not the Y2K+ version.
5. Remington Model 512 or 513(target) .22S/L/LR rifles.
6. Crosman Model 1400 .22 Air Rifle (note I did not say "Pelet Gun")
7. Remington 5mm Rimfire Rifles.......great caliber
8. Winchester Model 12 Shotgun
9. Colt Lightning Pump Rifles (any Caliber)
10. I agree on the Bren 10 and any 10mm that has been moved out of production.

That's enough of a trip down memory lane for now.

A dealer friend showed me an online distributer's web page (dealer section only) and they had some P220's in 38 Super listed?!! Granted, the notes said European... so it's a heel release.... but if it's available.....

I can't recall which distributer it was.....

I would like to see all of the Colt DA revolvers back in production. I would also like to see Colt or one of the major manufacturers marketing left hand slide and reciever kits for the 1911.

I miss the Colt pre series 70 National Match pistols. I miss the Colt series 70 production guns. (Not some cheap Colt made imitation series 70)

I already miss the Sig 225.

10 or so years ago S&W was making a Model 650 in .22mag.
The revolver is stainless steel with a 3" barrel. Very nice package.
I goofed around and did not buy one, and have kicked my self in the behind many times since.
