IIRC..
Motor mounts and transmission..
Also, you might thing about getting the stiffer springs for the front. It will help later on on the handling part.

it's not about the mechanical aspects, it's about the attitude. you have to BE more *****in', in mind and body before this swap can be completed. :punker:

You might also want to consider swapping the front spindles out so you can get 5 lug wheels instead of 4. If you're intersted, disc brakes from a Mustang II will fit also, and if you get them from a Cobra version.
If you have a stick, you may also be in for a new bell crank but I'm not positive of that.
Have fun!

Path and Hipower both offer good advice. I've done several 6/8 cyl. Mustang conversions. There are plenty of variables to consider, suspension, brakes, rear axle assembly, exhaust system, etc. To give you a better idea of what you're up against I need to know a few things: Do you want this to appear to be a factory V8? Are you willing to compromise on safety or service longevity of varying components? Which V8 are you considering, and will it be stock or "souped up"? Give me an idea of what you want to do and I'll try to give you an idea of what you're getting into.

I'm thinking either 289 with the current C-4 auto or a 302/T-5 5-spd combo from a newer 'stang. Either way the V-8 will be built strong, but streetable since it's my daily driver. 9.0/1 compression, headers, edelbrock intake and cam, Holley 390 cfm carb, K&N air filter.
I'm leaning toward the 289/auto to avoid dealing with the clutch and pedal issue and more consistent with stock.
Disc brake conversion w/dual master cyl is a big 10-4.
I'd like to find out if a newer Ford Explorer rear axle will fit to gain rear discs as well.

Lincoln Versailles...
I believe it is a direct bolt in:wine:

Give Path a gold star and a cold one! The Lincoln Versailles is a direct bolt in 9" disc brake rear end(The 9" will handle the power and is a better rear end than your current 8 1/4"). If you're going the salvage route, grab the front and rear coil springs while you're there. As Hi Power suggested, the spindles and front brakes can come off any V8 '74-'79 MustangII or Merc. Capri. You can order the vacum booster, master cyl. and proportioning valve for the Versailles and they'll bolt in and function fine. However, you will need to bend and flare the steel brake lines to line up. You stated you'll be running headers, so you'll need to get the exhaust system bent to match.
Conversion from auto to standard isn't too hard if you want to. Personally, I'd stick with the C-4 and the earlier 289/302, just to keep it closer to original. Okay, and to avoid electronic engine controls the newer ones like.
If you think of anything else, just ask and one of us will certainly help. Good luck.
