Has anyone heard or know any info on Rock River Arms pistols, as to the quality, and experience with them? I went to their web site, but as most of the manufactures, their is little info on them. Not even enlarged views of the guns.
Thanks :)

Long waiting time. Over-rated bargain prices. Iffy quality at first but now much better.
There waiting time is around 6-9 months. The reason why I state their pistols are over-rated 'bargains'... most people jump up and down about how cheap RRA 1911's are compared to Wilsons and Baers. HOWEVER, some of those 'cheap' RRA's are missing many features from a comparable Baer. Add in the same features, bingo! The price of the RRA is right up there with Baer and Wilson.
If you're going to buy a gun in that price range, just get a Les Baer Thunder Ranch Special or a Wilson Combat Protector or CQB and never look back.

What about the quality of their frames? I've had a project in mind for some time, but need a bare frame to start with. I noticed in Shotgun News that Rock River's ad offers bare G.I. type frames for $89.95. Are they good enough to build a custom on?

Grayfox, those frames are made by (or sold under the name of) Rock Island Arsenal not Rock River Arms. Two different companies. RIA pistols, frames et al are made in the Philippines while RRA pistols are machined here in the US of A. IIRC, RIA frames are cast while RRA frames are machined from flat stock.

Thanks Jim, my mistake. After rechecking the ad its listed under Rock Island, but its also part of a larger ad and doesn't really specify who makes these cheap frames. I guess I'll have to keep looking for a decent frame I can afford.
Rock River Arms' slides and frames are excellent. Their prices are also among the best out of the 'high end' producers of frames and slides (i.e. Caspian, Les Baer, Wilson Combat, STI, etc).
I'd venture to say their frames are probably the best! One simple reason, they Rockwell much harder than the other companies. However, there's a tradeoff. They're a bit tougher to work with due to the hardness. But in the long run, you'll end up with a better gun.
