My son (Mongo) brought home, from the gun store where he works, an FAL (?) Grizzly, 50 caliber to test fire (play with?). Well, now! After warning the neighbors, he, Mickthenailer and our nephew went out back and fired off about 4 rounds (at $1.70 per, one doesn't get carried away).
As far as I could tell, they all enjoyed it and no serious injuries were inflicted. In fact, they found it less intimidating once they fired one off.
But, such boomins!!!!!

mrsMTN - I'm sure that Mongo brought it home STRICTLY to test. I have no doubt that he, Mick and your nephew had ZERO fun while doing this "testing."

It's a tough job, but *somebody* has to do it! :D

I think they did well to restrain themselves to only 4 rounds. ;)
