I finally was able to get together with my son for a range outing today (late). We took the Romainian AK and my Gibbs .303 out for a
session.
I mounted the Russian Cobra sight and it's great. If they come around again for a good price pick one up because it's worth the money spent.
You will find you will have to spend a little time to get the mounting right, We did. Also read up on the way you have to make adjustments, you will have to do this also. We didn't get it totally sighted we ran out of daylight and had to call it quits.
Both rifles shot exceptionly well, I'm pleased with both but they will need more sighting in. ;)

LnL - Sounds like a great time!
What Gibbs Enfield (assuming that's what you have) did you take?
One of their Model 5's? Model 7's? What?
Curious minds want to know. ;)

Cliff it's the Gibbs based No#5, Resembles the original Jungle Carbine less the bayonet lug and the barrel is ported.
One thing the porting does is blow the hot gases back over your head

Cliff, I was considering getting the real No#5 but after shooting the Gibbs if I do it will just be for collectors purposes. The Gibbs even though the barrel was ported, "Kicked like a Mule" but it was manageable. Firing only five rounds at a time I also noticed that the barrel became very very hot to the touch, this was not rapid fire shooting as such with a semi auto.
All in all the Gibbs is a neat rifle. I had a lot of onlookers wanting to know what it was ;)

LnL - Yeah... I'd been thinking about using my C&R and picking up one of those Enfield #5's through SOG.
It's a nice looking little gun.
I decided against it because shooting something that light, chambered in .303 Brit, wouldn't be all that much fun. Maybe for 5 rounds or so, but after that....
So now I'm thinking about a Spanish FR-8 in 7.62X51.
I'm sure that would be *much* less painful! :D

Well buddy it's about time!!!!!! :D Wasn't this the first conversation we had last November when the board first opened up? Don't feel bad, as I haven't even fired my MAK-90 yet. The range I belong to is a 25 yd indoor, and even though the back stop is designed to handle rifle ammo, shooting at that distance with a rifle just doesn't make sense. I have to find an outdoor range for my rifles, but the closest one is over an hour away, and $300 to join!
Glad the site worked out. I will definitely keep a look out for one. I bought my MAK-90 sight unseen, and it's one of the batch with crocked front sites. Since the MAK-90 is the only Jersey legal AK, I figured I was lucky to find one, and will just have to install an aftermarket site system. The Collimator would have been perfect.
CDNN now offers one designed for ARs, but I think I'd prefer a 4x for the Bushie.
Good luck with it. Enjoy

Gus, I don't remember it being that long, but then I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday either.
Well anyway, Good things take time :D
It did work out but will need some further adjusting and since I've been working 12 hour shifts I haven't been able to make it to the range to fine tune it. ;)
But it was well worth the money spent, It's neat ;)
