Step one is done!!

Just received a call from my gunsmith/machinist. The barrel on that pre ban mini14 has been cut, a target crown has been added and a Bushmaster Phantom flash hider has been permanently attached. The over all barrel length is around 16 3/8", and according to him, the target crown has improved it's accuracy out to 50 yards.

Now comes the next part. What sighting system to mount on top of the receiver? An ACOG is waaaaaaaay out of my price range, but I do want something faster then iron sights, and Id rather it not be an Aim Point type of sight. Any suggestions?

Well... I have an EOD HALO in the new smaller form factor. I put it on my CCU. Seems like I got it pretty cheap from BOTACH. I don't like it as well as I do the REFLEX-II, but its not bad.

I would say the Bushnell Holosight for about $250 from www.swfa.com (http://www.swfa.com) or check out the Hakko tubeless 33MM sorta reflex.
Then again there is the cheap way out and that would be a 30MM Red Dot from BSA for $36.00, 42MM for about $49 and a 50MM for $65.00. They are fast, durable and I had the 42MM mounted on my VMatch for a while. As free as you wanted to aquire a target and empty the mag at 100 it worked out fine.
Now I havea 30MM on the dissapator and it works out just fine.
The dial models have a variable dot size to give you and excuse for the substandard MOA groups obtained with the Mini things. So use the 11 setting and you should at least be on paper :p
then just blame it on the Dot size

Stu - Are you still holding to your original preference for the sight to not have a switch or use batteries?

If so, the Trijicon Reflex is (still) my recommendation. :)

Cliff- Yeah, Im still kinda hoping that it wont need to be turned on. But as I look at the budget I might have to put off the sighting system. Over all Im hoping to have this done in time for EOSMII so that those of you that will be there can have a chance to fire one of the best CQB rifles ever made. :D

Imaging, all that money wasted on a  I am thinking. like a ranch rifle of wantabe...Heck I forget.
Just bought me a M203 for my Knight's Stoner SR15 M4. I wonder what Stu will have to say now :p
I can get reducers down to a 12 gauge 1 shot door opener or a net and bolo cord.
Stu, convert before it costs you way to much.
Oh by the way a pristine Colt Green label, NIB with Bayo and the right stock sold for $900 and it was a slabe side as well :p

Carston- NEVER Ill never go to the dark side. :p You do know that if you put an actual 12 shell in that adapter that it'll blow up the receiver. In fact a real shell might not even fit in there. But what the heck, its a toy for a toy gun. :p

Hey Stu have you considered just opening the standard rear aperture to Ghost ring type size and adding maybe a tritium froont sight. The ghost ring on my Mossberg is excellently fast as fast as anything I've everused and is surprisingly accurate still in slow fire (6" at 100 yds) I realy can't see anything being any faster and it would keep bulk way down.
