I have a question about rifles and scopes. As I mentioned in the "Hunt" forum here, I watch a ditch bank on a local farmer's land, and I sometimes have to take a very close shot, so close in fact I need to adjust the power of my scope to see the little furry groundhogs well. My questions are these: If I adjust the scope to a lower power, say 9 down to 6, does that change the point of impact? Is this called parallax? Am I better off to just leave the scope turned up and see a fuzzy image and keep the point of aim the same?

Tatters - I don't see how adjusting the magnification level of your scope would alter the POI. I'll leave a more authoritative answer to those here that have more experience with optics than I.
My understanding of "parallax" is that POI will not change based upon whether the aim point in your sighting device is centered or not.
For example, the Trijicon Reflex sights are described as parallax free because as long as the reticle is placed where you want your POI, the actual position of the reticle within the display doesn't matter.
Clear? Or more confusing?
