Rifles On Your "Wish" List? |

What rifles are you currently trying to acquire or would like to acquire?
My current list isn't real long (convenient, as I am not real rich), but will keep me going for a while.
To wit: (and not listed in any particular order....)
Enfield #4 MKI or II.
M-1 Carbine.
K-98 chambered in 7.62 NATO.
Spanish FR-8.
Marlin Lever action chambered for .44 magnum.
So. What's on your wish list?

A nice M1 Garand as you well know. I`m not a big rifle fan but they`re good to have as an investment and the occasional range trip.

It's going to take a little more than just beer can deposit refunds, but ....
I'm holding a spot open , in the rifle rack, for a Remington 700, in .308, with a really good scope.
I'm not greedy .... I'm just, well, a little bit greedy.

Kind of a short list really.
Ruger 77 in .22 Hornet. Maybe even one of the old Model 3s in .22 Hornet.
One of the Oregon Kimbers in .222 Rem.
The only rifle in current production that make the list would be one of the Ruger Mini 14 - stainless Ranch version in .223.

12.7X99mm Barrett Light Fifty M82A1
.50 Browning
Barrett Firearms Mfg Co
.50 Browning (12.7 x 99mm)
Length overall 1,549mm (60.98m)
Weight empty 14.7kg (32.41 Ib)
Barrel
838mm (33.00m), 8 grooves,rh
Magazine
11-shot detachable box
Muzzle velocity 843m/sec
(2,800ft/sec)
This is a semi-automatic sniping rifle firing the .50 Browning heavy machine-gun cartridge;
it is intended as a long-range sniping and interdiction weapon, and as a suitable defensive weapon for light vessels. Its object is primarily the destruction of material, rather than anti*personnel sniping. The rifle operates on short recoil principles; on firing, a considerable amount of thrust is delivered through the base of the cartridge case to the face of the bolt, which is transferred through the bolt lugs and body to the rear of the bolt carrier. The barrel has recoiled about 13mm when the bullet leaves the barrel, and after about 25mm of movement the bolt carrier is unlocked and moves back to rotate the bolt and unlock it. An accelerator also transfers much of the barrel's momentum energy to the bolt. The barrel finally stops, and the bolt continues rearwards to extract the empty case and eject it, then return to load a fresh round. The barrel is fitted with a very efficient muzzle brake which reduces recoil by about 30 per cent. There is an adjustable bipod, and the rifle can also be fitted to the standard M82 tripod or any mount compatible with the M60 machine-gun. It is in use by US and other Special Forces.
I'm not a little bit greedy .... I'm a hole lot greedy.
Can I shoot it when you get it S.O.L.? Oh, Terry Nichols is going on a hunger strike. Oh Golly That worrys me.
A 308 of some kind. Have not decided which one yet. A bolt action or single shot with a good scope.

I'm greedy too!
A Savage 99 in .358
A Marlin .45-70 or .450
A Winchester 71 .348
A Winchester 94 .356
When Lady Python sees this, I'm gonna be in trouble!

Great topic.
Like Dino, I'm more of a handgunner and not much of a rifle person. In fact even though I've got a handful of rimfires the only real rifles I currently own is a Smith & Wesson model 1500 Deluxe in 7mm that is unfired and will remain that way and a Marlin 1894 .44 mag, my do everything rifle. (Cliff, when you do get one you will not be disappointed.) I've also got some Winchester commemoratives and a reproduction 1866 Indian commemorative, but don't really think they count since they are wall hangers only. (How many others can sum up their rifle collection so briefly? ;))
But, in spite of not having many now, my wish list is short:
Ruger Mini-14
Stainless Navy Arms model 92's in .357, .44, .44-40 and .45LC
Navy Arms model 92's in blue, brass and color case hardened
and
Reproduction 1873 Winchester in .44-40 to rechamber to .44 mag
I guess looking at that list and considering that there are nine guns on it my list is not as short as I thought. :D
And I always want anything with the name Weatherby stamped on the side of it with nice wood but know I'll never be able afford one. :(
A Rolling Block is always on my list and are often times found affordable. But for some reason I never seem to have the money when one comes up or have other (gun) priorties.
'Course I would also like an accurate .22 mag. Maybe a 10/22.
With only a total of tweleve that is still not too many....when one considers that there are probably more than seventy handguns on that wish list. :D
HiPower, I got called to the phone as I was typing and missed your response before submitting mine. But I know what you mean about having the think about what the other half will think when they read a post. ;) That is one of the things that I love the most about Triple F and the family here; We have a lot of husband and wife teams that enjoy the place. But it does sort of reveal our little secrets now and then. :D

Some of you have brought up the 45-70. I am adding it to my have to have list. Ruger # 1 is what I will get. With the right powder and bullet it is 350 ft. per sec. slower than the 458 Winchester and would take any game in North America. 500 gr. bullet at 1700 ft and a 350 gr. bullet at 2100 ft per sec. :) :) :)

Cliff, geez....you want to make me think now
5 Ar's
2 .308 bolts
1 .300 Lever action #99
2 .22 SA and a pump
SA M1A
SA M1 Garand
1 SKS
Whoops...better clarify things, the above is what I have, below is if I decide I really need to stop a tank any time soon
I guess rifle wise it would be a .50 BMG like the AR-50 but this is just in the research and developement stages for my collection....
1st things 1st, pay off the SA TRP Operator and Streamlight M6 Laser/Light unit and get the Garand completely rebuilt.
Then I gotta stay away from Impact Tactical Systems for awhile ;)
Carston
Now you know Stu is gonna come along and bust my chops for not listing one of those Mini things :p

Hoo Boy! My wish list oughta be modest in comparison... :D
Enough $ to send my deuce to my favorite 'smith for a Pac-Nor Supermatch pipe...
A lever gun in .41 Mangle'em.
Ruger to make the .480 in a Bisley 7&1/2" and someone to give me one...
Maybe a lever gun in .480...
Thad'd keep me off the streets and out of bars for a while...

My list, too, is modest. I want an AR-10B in .308, and a lever gun chambered for the same cartridge as a single-action revolver (which I also do not have, yet). I guess at some point I'd like something in a 7.62 x 39 chambering, like an AK or SKS, or even a Mini-30.

Short list but long on $$:
Blaser Tactical in .308
Convert my Marlin .45-70 to an Alaskan Co-Pilot
Something in .50 BMG.

I don't really have money to buy rifles right now, but I would love to get a Winchester Trapper Compact in .357Magnum one day. And if we're moving really into fantasy-land, a Sako M92S would be great. :) Too bad the cost of those has gone up damn near exponentially... :(

Quite a few interesting choices!
Good shtuff.
Yeah... I forgot 45-70. I want one of those, too. :) A Steyer Scout chambered in .308 would be nice as well.
With all of the different calibers, I'm surprised nobody mentioned anything in .35 Whelen.
Tony - I like the Sako action. I'm sure the fact that Sako is a Finnish manufacturer didn't bias you in the least. :p :D
Actually, my dream rifle would be custom built. Maybe using a Classic Winchester Model 70 action and a stock cut to fit my measurements. I'd want it chambered on good ol' .30-06 or maybe... maybe... .308 Winchester.
Now I'm REALLY dreaming! :D

Cliff, I would have gone for a .35 Whelen, but I already have a .338-06 so it would be redundant. And now that I mention it, why would that stop me??

To fill the space between my 30-06 and 458, I would like a new Winchester Classic Stainless Rifle in 375 H&H. I would equip it with a scope, but would maintain the iron sights for back up use.
I would like to have another M1-A. A fun gun; this time a National Match type.

Cliff C: well, even American military experts (Jane's or what ever it was called, that is) have agreed that the 7.62RK95 (Finnish Defense Forces designation for the select-fire version of the SakoM92S) is the best assault rifle in the world... ;) :D (Well, ok, technically they say it's the best AK-variant in the world. Same difference, eh? ;) )
...Of course, if we really, really step into dreamland, I'd prefer the select-fire version. :D

As long as I'm wishing, may as well wish big, An original Winchester Hi-wall chambered in .40-65 Sharps, with A set of MVA long range Soules mounted and the matching dies and brass,
excuse Me, the drool is beginning to short out my keyboard,

Tye - Wish big, indeed! That would be quite a rifle, and one not likely to be found at the local gun emporium. ;)

Let's see -- I have to ignore dadblasted stupid gun laws as well as a serious lack of $$$$$ .... but we're just dreamin', right?
SMLE .303, matching numbers, unfired, No. 3 Mk II
Bren gun in .308W
M1 carbine
AWM in .338 Lapua Magnum
AW50 in .50 cal
AWP in .308W
(Is a pattern forming here? :D )
Volquartsen custom 10/22
Quigley's Sharps (no, not a copy, I want that one!)
And 'cause I'm not allowed a semi-auto here, I'll choose this one!
.458 SOCOM Monster Sledgehammer ---
The Tromix Monster Sledgehammer is NOW AVAILABLE!.* The Monster fires a* .458 *SOCOM round, designed by Marty ter Weeme of Texas.* It will launch 300 grain bullets at over 2100 fps, [500grain bullets over 1350 fps] all from your standard AR-15 lower receiver.* This powerhouse *puts out nearly 3,000 foot pounds of energy, about the same as a *30'06, but employs a .458" diameter bullet to boot.*
Clearly the MOST POWERFUL Sledgehammer ever.
The 458 SOCOM turns your .223 mouse gun, into a portable piece of field artillery *capable of dispatching even the largest beasts around the world. *But the best reason to own a Tromix .458 SOCOM is simply because it *is extremely invigorating to shoot and will entertain its user like *no other AR-15 has in the past.
Check the website (but be warned, it's a wee tad sexist!!): http://www.tromix.com/Welcome.htm
(Hehehehehe ... they don't make "guns", they make "lead delivery systems" -- gotta love it)
Oh well. enough dreaming ,,,,,,,
