Went to 2 gunshops I hadn`t been to in a long time. The first one is one of those little out of the way places where they have more used than new. I found a Winchester Model 62A .22 pump. Nothing special but I`ve been looking for a pump action .22 for the varmints around the yard. I have a brick of Colibris for this. The only problem with the gun is someone drilled and tapped for a scope. I`ve seen these guns in similar condition for $3-400 at the shows so I think I got a good deal.
And for Bill, I saw a 6" Model 19 for $249. Probably could be had for about $225. I didn`t handle it but it looked decent.
No Garand yet but I`m looking.

In your other post you made mention of some Import that you forgot the name.....Were you thinking Blue Sky M1 Garand?
That is what I just got a $400 deal on and plan to send it to Orion 7 for a new barrel and total rebuild and have a new M1.
I have not seen an M1 I would not need to send off so why not go as cheap as possible and spend the $600 for a rebiuld job.
Just a thought.

No, that`s not it. I`ll take a ride this week and check.
Are you going to leave yours 30.06 or go to .308? The ammo is easier to find and in my case I can use the .308 ammo I have for the M1A.

I've got a particular weakness for small, almost delicate long guns. The model 62 is one of those guns. For years my mother collected Winchester 1890's and model 06's. Then one day, several years ago, we were looking over the guns in the one of the local hardware stores when she saw a little 16" barreled, nickel version of the then new Rossi model 62 reproduction. I, obviously, was not around when she fist met my father but strongly suspect she no more smitten with him at the time than she was when she got her first look at that little rifle. In retrospect after having known my father all these years and having placed several rounds through the model 62 copy the gun was by far the better deal. Ironially, even though she still snaps up every reasonably priced '90 and '06 she finds she has never added a real Winchester 62 to her collection.

You know what I like dontcha Dino? ;) Like everyone here I've always got that "list" of guns I'd like to someday add to my collection. Some of those are highly suspect as to whether they will ever actually make it into the budget and house. But a six inch model 19 is one of those on the will have list. Two and a quarter ain't bad either...ain't bad at all.

Dinosaur,
When I have mine rebiult it will be coming back with a NM .308 barrel.
I wonder if you are talking about the CIA or Century International Arms M1....I have heard a lot of bad.
People don't like Sky Sky either but with the rebuild it will be all new so it didn't batter. The Danish M1's can be had for about $400 also.
Good Luck

Carston, I think it is a Century. For as much as I`ll shoot it, it`s probably not bad but it isn`t the gen yu wine article.
Bill, since I do have the PSP 4" 19, I`d really like to have that "4 Model 28 I saw. It had the small grips and felt good in my hand.
