What If Hell Really Froze Over? |

Ok, it is not really hell that I am talking about. What I am referring to is the "Assault Weapons" and other firearms provisions of the 1994 Crime Bill. They are supposed to expire in 2004 unless thay are reaffirmed. Now, What IF, and I mean IF, our boys and girls in Washington actually admit the error of their ways, and let the ban run out? What would your shopping spree be? How would you celebrate? I would convert my post ban AR into something that matches his preban cousins. OR I just might acquire a new pre-ban upper and mate it to my postban lower. Then I would get my post ban lower, put it in a display case, and hang it up to remind me of how bad things could get. I would stock up on hicaps like a woman buys shoes and makeup. I would blast "Praise the Lord, and pass the Ammunition" from my stereo. To answer my questions, just make pretend that common sense is poissible at the goverment level, and dream. :D

Geez, I am sorry.....I wouldn't give them the time of day. I would go about life as normal and maybe go to the range next week.
Humm, Maybe buy a couple thousand rounds of ammo and have a beer....pretty boring, I know.

Wolv314- Don't worry about Carston. He's happy being PC and only owning post ban rifles. He has a ton of money invested in fake flash suppressers, and hi cap mags, so it would mess with his mind too much if suddenly all his high priced toys became worth less then the Coors Lite he drinks. :D
Of the two AR15s I own, one is so pre ban that there isn't nothing I can't do to it that would be illegal already. And the other one is an HBAR and adding a flash hider would decrease the accuracy of it, so it would have to stay as it is. BUT as to what Id be buying, I really really need a Dawoo DR200 for the price they used to sell for. Plus there are a few other rifles, like a real FAL a Styer AUG and a few others that would need to be had. Plus a pile of hi cap mags for all of them.

I'm not really into "assault rifles", even if there actually is such a thing. But, I would like to pick up a couple of full capacity factory mags for my Hi-Power at reasonable prices once again.

I'd have to blow my savings account...just to have it. I'm tired of post-ban idiocy.
10 round limit? I *hate* it. My G22 and my G27 have the same capacity (+1 for G27). Sucks.
My AR is post ban. I would rather exercise the freedom to choose what it looks like, instead of being told I can't do this or that b/c it makes it "dangerous" and me "evil."
Ok. I'm evil. Let's get on with life. ;)

I guess I have too much of a C&R mind set. My idea of "Assault Rifles" are.....
RUSSIAN SKS
RUSSIAN SVT 40
EGYPTIAN HAKIM AND RASHID
SWEDISH AG-42B
FN-49
etc.
All have detachable mags, with REAL flash suppressers and bayonet lugs!!
Not very "High-Tech", but a lot of fun and quite effective.

Initially? Nothing. I would wait for the prices to drop on all of the things that became over inflated because of the worthless, feel good law.
Then probably mags to begin with. From there I would have to see what was out there and how prices went. I'm not a big black rifle fan either so the prices would have to get dang cheap before I would jump.
Clico Carbines in 22 LR and 9mm with lot's of big mags. :) Then big big mags for my AR and FAL like the BETA-C's if the price gets lower than the 150 to 200 you get LE only's for. Then one of the AK style 12 Ga if they start making drums for them.

This is why dry (no alcohol sales) counties in KY stay Dry.
Every Time there are wet/dry votes, the bootleggers donate to the local Congrigations to vote dry. Kinda of a community service write off for the bootleggers and the Church elders keep their alcohol supply close by and their community reputation.
I shudder to think that around 2003, the Pro-Gun lobby would lobby to keep the Crime Bill legislation in place because they have too much invested in "assault" inventory and would stand to loose too much money if the legislation expires in 2004. This would also make them look like team players.
I can't think of anything that I'd run out and buy. My HPs and SIG 226 are preban so I have highcaps out the wazzoo for them. Most of my other semis are either single stack or post ban ones where there are no highcaps.
I never really have wanted any of the new assualt rifles. I'm an old bolt or lever KISS type so the ban hasn't been an issue. My big hope is that the ban expires and everyone but me runs out to buy what becomes available. That will drive down the price on all the JUNK stuff that I really want.
