Today I picked up another pre ban mini14. :) This brings the total of mini14s in the safe up to 4. Not sure what all Ill do to this one, might leave the stock alone since its all wood including the upper hand guard. The wooden upper hand guard is something that Ruger stopped using around 1985, so there aren't a lot of them still out there

While I was filling out the paperwork for the mini14, I spotted a s/s 10/22 sitting on the shelf. It's in 95%, also pre ban, and it had a price tag of $165 on it. To start with I work at that shop, so I don't pay retail. But after reading the code on the tag to see what the shop had into it, plus the 10% that goes to pay the book keeper etc. I had to have it. I walked out the door with it for $120. This is 10/22 number five in the safe. One of these days Ill have to start buying 22 ammo by the truck load, instead of just by the case

You are one sick puppy  What are we gonna do about you Stu. You need to get a real job were you aren't tempted and taunted day in and day out to spend more and more money. Soon you are gonna need another safe and a bigger house as well.

Carston- Dude are you feeling all right? Not once did you give me any crap about getting another mini14. Some how I doubt that your all that worried about me needing another, bigger house. You probably know a realtor in CO that will throw you a kick back (for your AR fund) that you can hook me up with. :D

Stu, just out of curiosity, do you have (collect) any other Ruger rifles? Like the model number one or the model 77?

Hey, I didn't think of that but now that you mention it, that is a greeat idea. I could maybe pick up a 16" A2 Shortie. Good thinkin Stu, I will call a Buddie of mine tomorrow. You know maybe you need to look around and check to see if you could transfer in a few more Mini 14 and 10/22. Check around a Colfax, I bet there are some shops hurtin for a few buck :p :p :p

Stu, have you ever actually cashed a paycheck from your second job? I'm thinking for tax purposes it might just be easier for them to pay you in guns. :D

Bill- Nope, just the two Ruger semi auto rifles, and it has nothing to do with them being Rugers. If any one else made such fine rifles, id collect them as well. I've never gotten in to turn bolts or single shot anything. I like fire power. :D

Eric- Nope never cashed a check from there. Every pay day, I just turn it over and sign it back over to the shop. What you gotta remember is that Im only working there one or two days a week, so it's not like it's a great deal of money. What I need to do is get a t shirt that reads "Will work for guns". http://www.familyfriendsfirearms.com/forums/icons/icon29.gif

I have to admit I have a fondness for the mini and the 10/22 although I do not have an example of either one. I'll admit to that I am not real partial to Rugers either. In fact until '93 and the introduction of the Vaquero I boasted thst I would never own a Ruger. I liked the Blackhawk family but being a traditionalist when it comes to single actions (and most everything else in life) I did not like the adjustable sights. But now I have Vaqueros coming out my ears and one Super Blackhawk. Hey, I picked it up in mint condition with 10.5" barrel for $120 and talked the seller into shipping it directly to me with him paying the shipping. What can you do? :D
I hate their semi-auto pistols, am not a bolt person myself (my Smith model 1500 Deluxe is the only bolt action I own, the number one has a reputation for not being as accurate as other single shots and the Red Label is simply over priced when compared with other scatter guns in the same range.

I will say this and it will "get your goat". ;) Of the two I personally prefer the Marlin/Glenfield model 60 .22 auto over the 10/22. Sick, I know, but I like the little Marlins.

So when do you think you are going to make it out? Terri and I are looking forward to seeing you.

"Numbers 4 and 5" huh? I hope to be saying that about my AR collection someday. Heck, I'll take a Mini 14 too. I already have a pair of 10/22's, so unless I have the urge to assemble one of those gatling gun kits, I will not be getting any more of those. :D :D

Wolv- There are so many things you can do with a 10/22. But yeah, I want a gatteling gun kit too. :D
