Saw one of these yesterday at a gun dealer. A trade in yet! The dealer isn`t sure if he wants to sell it. I don`t know for sure but he was saying there were only 60 made. I told him he should keep it because he`ll never see another one.

U.S. M1 CARBINE (MILITARY & COMMERCIAL) .30 Carbine cal., 18 in. barrel, 15 or 30 shor box mag., wood stocked, two or four position aperture rear, blade front sight with protective ears, with or without bayonet lug. This weapon was designed by Winches*ter for the U.S. government, over 6 million were produced by 10 different companies, while Plainfield was mfg. after the war for civilian sales. It is a gas operated light-weight car*bine that was also used by other countries' armed forces. Makers and values as follows. Val*ues are for original, unmodified carbines, with proper parts makers and stock cartouches. Some variations have the type III barrel band.
Values below arc for original mfg. only, not recent imports (usually denoted by visible import markings and/or alterations to original finish).
Subtract 30% for original finish guns that have been changed back to the original configura*tion by switching parts.
Subtract 50% for modified guns with adj. sight and bayonet lug.

Dinosaur - Union Switch & Signal produced M1 carbine receivers for Quality Hardware and National Postal Meter.

The former are stamped Un-Quality on the receiver and the latter have a "U" stamped on the bevel.

Either way, it's a desirable collectors item.

What I know about them you can put on the head of a pin. He was showing it to another customer. I was trying to get out of there cheap and I was successful. Barely. :D
