Carston- Nice looking AR thingie. :D Sooooo glad you didn't disgrace it by adding a can of cheap beer in the picture. Now all you gotta do is get a couple of mini14s to teach them AR thingies what reliability is. :)

Carston - Nice looking rifle! So... you finally got a pre-ban, huh? You must have sold some more real estate. :D
How many black rifles does that make for you, now? Three? Four?
What's the deal with the carry handle mounted red dot sight? From the photo, it looks low enough that you have peer through the rear aperture to acquire the dot. Could be the camera angle. :)
BTW, you KNOW that your collection won't be complete until you acquire an M1 Garand. ;)

Cliff</STRONG>Cliff- Don't you mean a mini14?? :D

Stu - Nope.
Carston already has .223 covered. Not to mention 7.62X39 and 7.62X51.
What he doesn't have covered is 30.06. I won't mention all of the forged parts that the M1 packs.
Now, the reason *I'M* gonna acquire a Mini-14 is that Ruger had the good sense to copy JCG's design. If I can live with cast parts in the M1A, I figure I can live with them in the Mini-14. :D

Upper Guys, business has been okay and may be getting better soon.
Yes, Cliff I know about the M1 thing and I have been watching. I almost picked up a rebuilt, rebarreled to .308 awhile back but figured I needed to get this AR paid off 1st.
As for the Red Dot, it is temporary...I have two EO Tech Holosights coming for this and my Stoner. As for the mounting it works well with the front and rear sights. The dot sits at the top of the front post so you a a 3 point sight.
I am gonna be way busy going to the range now that I n=messed everything up.
Adjusted rear A2 sight on the Dissapator to go 8/3 min 2 and took the Red dot off to mount on the Preban....will need the completely start over to Zero.
VMatch and ATN 5x33L I adjusted the eye relief so will need to check the Zero there as well.
Stoner is getting a EO Tech sight and the 50MM is coming off, more work.
Preban will need both irons amd EO Tech zero'd.
M1A is getting a Smith Ent mount and Mk IV rings for the ATN 5x33LU with .308 cam, still more work.
And then I switched scopes on the Savage 110FP form Simmons to a 1st Gen SA 4-14x56.....Yeppers, even more work.
I have a feeling I am gonna need a couple more battle packs very
soon
Oh Well,

Oh Well,
Carston</STRONG>Battle Packs?!?! Carston old buddy old pal, you buy mags in bulk, so why mess around with them 120 round battle packs?? Think cases of ammo. Hell we ram almost 500 rounds through my SP1 this past weekend. Do you have any idea how many battle packs that is??
Carston

I see the problem Stu....I now know what is up with you but we wont go there.
Battle pack 200 round Surplus stuff would mean it would take 2.5 packs to equal what you shot.
Now I know the nifty vinyl bags do nothing of the ammo as far as quality but it works for storage...grab 1 or 2 bags and off to the range. Buried they last forever or until some nit hits them with a trencher...
Stu, buddy...we have got to start working on your mind set here
Now you know I am truly sorry to hear that your Thompson has been broken but it is time to regroup, rejoice...you are a FREEMAN and now have the ability to buy ugly guns, black rifles and copis numbers of mag (Legal to own Mags that is :p
I just may have to buy me a RAV Feather in .45 ACP if this continues with you...

Carston- Actually I didn't count the number of rounds we went through. i just loaded mags (yes legal mags) and headed to the range. Heck I only have around 35 30 round AR mags, but only four 20 rounders. You don't by chance wanna swap a few of my 30 rounders for some 20 rounders?? That HBAR doesn't like the 30 round mags too much when firing from the bench.
Ok ok, so the 223 battle packs are 200 rounds, but hell that's not even enough to warm up a mini14. But then with them AR thingies, that might be the cut off point of where you have to stop shooting, break them down and clean them. Nice to see that the amount of ammo between cleanings has gone up to 200 from 120. :D

Carston - I've heard good things about the Smith Enterprise scope mount.
I'm gonna send my $99.00 special scope and mount offer for the M1A off tomorrow. Truth be told, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it. SA's "third generation mount" looks like a direct copy of the ART II mount developed back in the early 70's. I know that I'm going to have to monkey around with the clip guide to install it and that doesn't make me happy.
I agree with Stu about ordering cases of ammo. Besides, a case is 5 battlepacks. I have 400 rounds of different types of milsurp so I can see what it shoots best. Once that's decided, I'll be ordering a couple of cases.
Six more days. :(

Ya well....Cliff, Stu..
Order your cases you have the money
I could do that too if I would stop buying new rifles
Carston
Carston- I just realized that you broke a cardinal rule. You never told us who made that AR, and all the spiffy details. *smack* So is it one of them Oly Arms "plinkers" :D Ya see this is one of the advantages of buying mini14s. There all made by Ruger, not a bunch of people wanting to make a buck off of the masses.

Oh Stu...Are you still upset over the Thompson Incident
As for who made it...Bushmaster of course Serial Number L03xxx with the Birdcage FH, Evil Pry Bar tool lug, 2 position stock and soon to be sporting a Bushnell LE 450 Holosight on the ARMS #39A2 Bi Level mount.
As for the 20 round mags...get over to www.ar15.com (http://www.ar15.com) there were a bunch for sale the other day and for some good prices. I only have 30 20's mostly Colt and about 15 30's :D
As for you state the Ruger is the only one that makes a Mini 14 and a Mini 30....you are right about that. Did you ever think that just maybe NO ONE ELSE was interested in the Mini idea :p Gottcha, I set that one up all by yourself.
Cliff, as for the SA mount...I read somewhere that the installation is a bit tricky. You will need to drive a roll pin out and I forget from which direction and then use a wooded dowel and hammer to drift the stripper clip guide off. the then tap the mount in place...
That seems almost to permenent to me, like if you want to take it off at the range you couldn't.
Well, back to work....I had planned on going to the range today but somehow I don't think it is gonna happen.
Carston
Stu....Did you once say something about wanting the 50MM BSA Red Dot if I didn't need it. It was the one on the Stoner. I have now replaced it with a Bushnell Holosight, if you are interested.

Thanks, Carston. On mine, it looks like there's some kind of torx head screw securing the guide to the dovetail. I could always have the existing guide drilled and tapped... Nah. :) We'll just see what they send me.
So your pre-ban is a Bushie, eh? Good man! :D I think Bushmaster makes the best lower receivers out there. Mine's a DPMS - my wife has the Bushmaster. I have receiver envy. :p
Stu - Oly actually makes pretty good barrels, or they source from someone who does. The rest of the rifle they can keep.
BTW, I was out at the range today. I was giving my Beretta 92F and Colt Trooper a workout. I wandered down to the rifle range and there were two guys shooting M1A's. Those M1A's were nekkid!! Nekkid, I tell you!!! Neither of those rifles had a sling!
I bet the butt stock compartments were empty, too.
Yeesh. ;)
