Hey guys.. I gotta OLD (50+years I believe) Marlin model 81-DL. For anyone not familiar with this rifle, its bolt action and has the magazine tube under the barrel -- yeah, that style. I'd like to know if anyone knows offhand how to remove (if you can) the bolt assembly from the receiver. I've given it a few moments to ponder over it, but without seein' anything obvious, I've given up on it. If anybody has any hints, I'd really apprecaite it. Its in desperate need of a late summer's cleaning. :D (It got great use so far this summer.)

Take the stock off the rifle. On top of the trigger is a piece of metal (no, I don't know what it is called). Place a screwdriver between this piece of metal and the receiver and pry. As the piece of metal is pushed down, pull the bolt out the rear. ;) :)

You have to remove the stock to remove the bolt??!?
Geez.... Why couldn't they do something simple like with the bolt open and pulled all the way back, depress the trigger, hold, and slide the bolt out. ?

Well... I've... uh... *cough* ... been there once or twice myself.
But only with guns made by Kelloggs :D
