I have a couple of questions about AR uppers. First is $325 a good price for a slightly used Bushmaster AK shorty upper? This is without bolt and charging handle. It has the A2 handle, and doesn't look like its been shot much at all. Im thinking about it for my HBAR. That and to be more like my slightly older brother Bubba. :D Hell its cheaper then trying to build one of them TiGGer 1911s.

The other question is about A1 vs A2 sites. I have an A2 tritium A2 front site, and would like to use it in an A1 upper. Besides needing an A1 site tool, is this possible??

Stu...
I would say $325 is a good deal, $300 better if possible. The bolt and carrier are $120 and the handle is $24 new from BM.
I like to keep complete uppers as I feel parts wear to one weapon and switching back and forth is gonna be problems done the road.

As for the A1-A2 sites, sorry bud...I don't has a clue. I would think with the one you have being so darn old ;) it may be worth more as a safe queen than as a shooter...if that is the one you are talking about.

As for picking up additional lowers....watch for Eagle Arms at around $250 and $350 with the NM trigger group...Eagle bought or was or is or something...Armalite/Eagle or Eagle/Armalite. Anyhow, they are supposed to be very good for the price....steer clear of ASA, from what I read.

Another site to try that has a good reputation is J&T Distributing at www.jtdistributing.com. (http://www.jtdistributing.com.) Click on the AR15/M16 link then click on the barrelled uppers link. They've got everything from a 7.5" barrelled upper to 24" bull barrel uppers and range in price from $289.95 to $359.95. IIRC they also have the phosphate coating, but not positive on that point.
DPMS is a company that I personally have had good luck with. They have an extensive listing of parts, www.dpmsinc.com. (http://www.dpmsinc.com.) Click on products to get to their index of parts and assemblies. DPMS also makes the industry's only lefthand AR receiver  Also DPMS upper barrel assemblies usually include the complete bolt assembly. DPMS will also build non-catalogued items. That's how I had my lefthand AR built. I wanted a CAR-style setup lefthanded so I had them build an upper with the 11.5/5.5 barrel on the LH uppper. Took quite a bit of time but I'm very satisfied with the results.
