Managed to get a fairly good deal on some AR mags today. Three 30 round, and 4 20 round aluminum mags. The 30 rounders are made by companies I don't know but the 20 rounders are stamped Colt. Even better was the price, which is sure to piss off Carston. I got all seven for $25. :D :D

Stu - Not bad. Not a bad deal at all. :)
Hey - What sight arrangement did you decide to go with on your CQB mini-14?
Cliff
Cliff- Not bad?!?! That works out to $3.57 each.
Still not sure about the site on that mini14. Right now the barrel is being cut and crowned, and the flash hider added. Ill worry about the site after I pick up that SP1. :)

Stu - Yeah... $3.57 each sounds about right. The bodies are made from cheap aluminum, the follower is plastic, the floorplate is pot metal and the springs are mfr'ed from melted down car antenna's.
$3.00 each would be a better price. :D :D
You really ARE getting that SP1, huh?
I'll wanna see pics. ;)
Cliff
OOPS. :(

Cliff- Don't get me wrong. I agree, mags are a lot of money for what your getting. But I was willing to pay a little more for that Colt stamp on the 20 rounders. There are people like Carston that think there worth $50 each.
Yeah, I am really getting that SP1. Just to say I have one, and to piss off those that think there cool because they have a pre 94 ban AR. That and idiots like KevinW. :D

Humm, I was told sorta like they had to delete my post about KevinW. I guess I was bad or something and they even deleted Stu's post  I guess trolls are welcome

Stu - I was just razzin' ya. :)
Colt mags have an undeserved rep, IMO.
The BEST 20 round mags I have are '60's mfr'ed Adventure Line with alloy followers.
I'll take them or Sanchez over Colt Any Day.
Carston - I missed it! Have you and Stu been terrorizing the deserving? :D
Cliff
Carston- Naw trolls aren't welcome here. We just came down a bit hard on ol Kevin. Next time we'll lure him into a false sense of security then WHAM hit him with the supper soakers. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
So Carston, wanna pick up some Colt 20 rounders cheap? I can let you have them for just $30 each. :D
All my AR mags are Adventure Line or OKay. OKay makes the mags for Colt, they just put the Colt floorplate for the factory ones. Just like what MecGar does for SIG and H&K.
Cliff- I know. But for $3.57 each, I couldn't pass them up even if they are Colt. :D The worst part was that I was hoping that some 20 rounders would come into the shop that I could pick up cheap so i could take that HBAR to the range and shoot it from the bench. A couple of days ago, the shop took in a used AR with this bag O mags. When I got to the shop today the boss wandered if I wanted some AR mags cheap. He hadn't bothered to look at the floor plate, and sold them to me for what the shop had into them. The only reason the Colt stamp is important is because there are some purists that demand that AR mags have that stamp on it. Personally I like the 30 round Thermold mags, but what do I know, I like the mini14 better then any AR. :D

There is NO accounting for some people's children. :D :D :D I have a couple of the Thremolds. I use them as my starter mags for matches where I KNOW I am going to have to let a mag hit the ground into mud and muck.
Looking forward to tomorrows match at Texas Tactical. IDPA pistol first followed by a side match for Carbine. Me and the Bushmaster get to have some fun. :D
Terry
Bubba- Geeze ya make it sound like Im the bad son. :D Personally I like Thermold because there virtually indestructible, and the feed lips are a lot less likely to get messed up, unlike the aluminum lips on the USGI mags.
With the mags I picked up yesterday, came three rubber sleve/bumpers, and three plastic dust covers. Has any one had any experience with these??
Stu, nice job on the AR mag acquisition.
1. RE: The dust covers .... be sure to leave them on when the mag is fully loaded and you insert them in the gun. That way, no dust from the gun gets into the mag. :)
Don't worry about shooting your AR....this is best reserved for those who truely deserve a fine shooting experience.
2. Stu, I ment to tell you that I have been using the 20 rder colt mag you sent me, as my 8 shot reload mag for rapid fire sitting and prone during high power. It works flawlessly. I had what I considered a very good rapid prone group string. Its as though I knew what I was doing... but that could not be.. Anyway Many thanks for that mag!!!! :D
Tree- I have the 9 round mag that came with the HBAR if you want it. There's a plastic piece on the bottom so it sticks out far enough to be properly seated in the mag well. Let me know, and Ill get it off to you. :)
