Wow....Gettin' to be a lot of old familiar names poppin' up here.
Glad to see it.
This question was asked a long time ago on another site and no one seemed to know. So I'll try here.
All of my .22 rifles have a rifling twist rate of one turn in 16" except my Ruger 10/22. It has a 14 1/4" twist rate and seems to shoot fine. Does anyone else have that?
The Remington benchrest .22 (40X RBRKS) also comes standard with a 14 1/2".
Is this something new for the .22 Rimfire?

Time warp? Is that what they call the right coast?? No dang wonder, it sez your 2,000 light years from home. Now I understand. You're lucky your not half a century off instead of only a day.
Actually, I got on here after you and it was reading 6:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time. Go up to your user CP panel and make sure you're set for the correct time zone.

Maybe you accidentally swapped your 10/22 mag barrel with your 10/22 rf barrel ;)
I don't really know but 22 centerfire and 22wmr typically has 1/14, so it stands to reason it will be more accurate with a heavier bullet, so maybe some of that really heavy aguila sss stuff for example as Ron mentioned. I know Lilja makes a target 22rf barrel with a 1 in 14 twist, so I could see Ruger coming out with a target edition 10/22 in that as well, is it one of their hammer forged ones for example?
is my SWAG anyhow

Don't know if it is possible because of who does what and where, but under the right circumstances, magnum blanks could have got thrown in with RF blanks before they were machined?????

The times are a changing and maybee the gun manufacturers world too. The faster twist should handle the longer bullets better, and they're selling a heck of a lot of the subsonic ammo now compared to a few years ago. Don't know if shooters are learning they don't need magnums for mice or they're getting more discerning about what they can do with different ammo types. The optimization of twist for 40Gr and shorter led to the hyper speed rounds but maybee someone is looking at coming out with a target round with a better BC at a more reasonable speed. I think the .17 is a good thing, like 9-11 it's making people actually think. Wouldn't it be wonderful to take the decisions on what to produce away from the bean counters?:psycho:
Just noticed that the new Remington 504 .22 rimfire has a rifling twist rate of 1- 14.5":dunno: :dunno:
