Gents,

I am very close to buying a new Ruger M77 International in 30-06 and wanted to see if any of ya' all have ever had one of these and what you think of it. I think it is gorgeous - love those full length stocks! My only concern is that short little 18 inch barrel. Maybe I shouldn't be concerned as I shoot a lot of 45-70 out of an 18 inch tube and have no trouble - although an '06 is a mite faster than a 45-70 What do ya think?

I don't like the stock to touch the barrel like that.

What is your end use? If it is hunting and you fire 1 round a year (or no more than a few), then all is well. The 18 inch barrel won't matter much with all the tension from the stock and barrel band.

Mike,
I'll be using it for hunting and general target shooting and plinking - That's how I use all my rifles.

Should be a nice looking keeper. I, too, like the look. Sometimes I get too wrapped up in accuracy issues. Minute of heart-lung puts meat on the table :D

Minute of heart-lung
I call that Minute of Mammal, as opposed to Minute of Angle.

Minute of Mammal is about eight inches. Practice shooting at paper plates, or if you are feeling rich, pie tins.
