Take a few moments to think on how ****py our relationship is with France...

How we want to have only "legal" immigration...

The fact that you can't think of nothing good in NY City....

Then think on the fact that for a big part of America our great grandparents, and great grandparents showed up tired hungry and poor and saw this:

Like I said, I know times have changed, and they will continue changing, but I think its good to think on things sometimes.

Fn- Like I said in the other thread, i dont care how you get here if your here to work. it is those who leach of off the system I hate.

I have a Marine here, he spent the first 10 years in the philipeans and he is one of the most patriotic person i have ever had the pleasure of meeting. It is funny when our WM starts talking **** about America and he is like "STFU, America is the best country in the world and you don't even know it."

I love my country and what made it the way it is, the hand outs have to stop or we will lose what made it the way it is.

I hear ya bro, I just think its odd when you look at that site and think on it. I dont like the French none and I think alot of immigration should be curtailed - so sometimes its good to look into this stuff to remeber how we got here I figure.... might not make sense.

.......I think alot of immigration should be curtailed -

Me too. Starting with the illegal ones.

Those that choose to come here legally, and work at making the transition to being an American Citizen, rather than someone who comes here to skim off the top, cheat the system, and send the excess back to their homeland are the ones I welcome.

Well we are alot closer to agreeing then you may think.

Those who come and want to work hard, both at work and to becoming American Citizen are the ones I wecome.

Whether they got all the right papers or not is less of my concern.

I've been reading through your posts along w/Marine and I am disgusted at how the people that ARE Americans squeeze everything they can out of our programs that are meant to HELP the ones that truly need help.
See Adam, it's not just the ones here illeagally looking for handouts,it's the ones that are fully capable of taking care of themselves that are sucking the life out of US who pay taxes and having no respect for any of US or themselves. That just burns me up...

When something is provided for "free" then there will be no end to abuse. Tragedy of the commons. If we did not have welfare of state-sponsored health care, or housing assistance, ad nauseum, we would not have neither the dead-beats sucking off of the system nor would we be a magnet for illegal immigration to that end.

Scale back government and the productive will succeed no matter their ethnicity, origin, nor status. I am willing to make a trade: end government handouts and keep the border open.

That article is at odds with what I was taught about the origins of the Statue. It has always been my understanding that originally, the statue was to serve as a lighthouse in the Suez Canal, and the deal fell through, forcing the artist to find an alternate final destinaion or go broke. The modern history of the statue has been greatly simplified for the sake of glamor.

I certainly agree we need to cut all social programs.
