My Saiga arrived, it's a 7.62x39 with the 16" barrel. It came with 1 magazine. Final price after shipping and dealer charges were $205. Not bad for a brand new, ultra reliable rifle that will triple as a deer gun, plinker and if needed, a handy "social" rifle. I still haven't decided if I will convert it to take standard AK magazines.

might as well convert it to a pistol-grip while you're at it :D

I took her to the range today, nothing too formal, just blasted away at an empty milk jug. Functioning was flawless. I didn't site it in but the sites are pretty close already. I was consistently hitting the jug offhand at about 75 yards. Now I need to order a bunch of ammo and a few more magazines so I can really work it out.

OK where's the pics. I've missed something here and it's just because it came from Russia. Bet it's one of those Rem isn't going to import, too. Been reading where Rem is going to import Baikal, saiga, Izhvest etc. under the Izhmash marketing group, but each one you're actually interested in turn out to be items to be dropped under the Rem contract. I'm beginning to think Rem is just trying to control competition here.

I threw away the milk jug with holes, I don't have a pic of my rifle yet but it looks like this one.
