Here are the pics of my DeHaan U1 I got from www.dhshotguns.com
It has 28 inch barrels with a matte finish. I tried to get good pics of the wood and such. I'll try to get more pics when I get to the range with it and have good light. I haven't been able to shoot it yet as the weather and a bad cold conspired against me this past weekend, but I hope to shoot her this upcoming weekend.

Hey Combat,

How does it shoulder? Do you find it comes up naturally so that you're lined up with the sight plane, or do you have to make adjustments after it's up?

Zircon,

It handles really well. I've shot an 870 so much that everything else seems odd at first but I like the way it handles.

I took the DeHaan out for the first skeet session today. In boxes of shells it doubled on me 5 times. My understanding is that this is usually a result of shipping grease on the sear or from a very dirty gun. I'll contact DeHaan on Monday to see what needs to be done. The shotgun gurus at the club liked the gun and said that it was not a big deal to get the doubling fixed.

The recoil wasn't bad at all. The gun handles very well and has very little felt recoil.

DeHaan has already responded to my email and is sending me a UPS shipping lable to return it for service. I hate that it has to go back, but they are standing by their product. I'm still very happy with it.

Let us know how this works out. We'll be interested in hearing. So far DeHaan sounds like they've got their act together.

That is always encouraging when a manufacturer stands behind their product enough to pay for shipping.

It really is a beautiful shotgun. I hope you have back soon.

My DeHaan finally made its way back to me this week. I took it to the club today to make sure it was fixed. I shot three rounds of skeet with it and no problems.

My first round was horrid. I didn't bust but a few birds. I kept either shooting behind the birds or stopping the gun.

My second round started off pretty bad. About halfway through the round, I changed the position where I was putting my cheek on the stock by moving it forward slightly. This for some reason got my eye behind the bead better. I did pretty good the rest of the round.

I shot a third round and shot much, much better. I still got behind a few and missed a few due to stopping the gun, but I was much better. The different head position is allowing me to see the birds much better.

I had only brought 3 boxes of shells with me as I wanted to get some pistol shooting in as well. There was a guy there that wanted to shoot another round, but everyone else was packing up. I offered to pull for him so that he could shoot. He did me one better and handed me his 20ga Baikal O/U and a box of shells and invited me to shoot the round with him.

The Baikal was a nice shooting gun, and I really enjoy shooting 20ga. In fact, my next shotgun purchase will be a 20ga of some description. I shot the round pretty good. I still got behind a few, and I need to keep swinging through on every bird, but I am starting to make some progress. I still haven't shot 25 rounds of skeet altogether in my life yet. Smile

The guy that I shot the last round with had a nice Red Label 12ga. I handled it a little bit, and I liked it. The Red Labels point better for me than any of the O/Us that I have handled. I sort of wished that I bought that one back at Christmas time, but I'm pleased with the DeHaan. That guy shot a round with an 870 Express earlier in the day and did very well with it.

Of course the old phart with the .410 showed us all up. Smile Sometimes he would still be loading when he called for the bird and still hit the dang thing.
