Stopped by my favorite gun shop yesterday and
they had an Old Model Ruger .44 Carbine in the rack.
Been plan'n to get one of these for years, just because I haven't had one before.:)
An it makes a good companion for the 10/22 carbine.I have enough parts lay'n around to put a 10/22 carbine togather,so I'm all setup.
Anyhoo, after dig'n around I came up with some trade'n materal and a deal was set.
This gun looks like it has been draged down a muddy-rocky road, but machanically it looked and worked ok.
After check'n the SN on Ruger's site I find it was Mfg'ed somewhere around 61-62.Very low number,61 was the first year of Mfg.
To the range.
First time I have been out in over 3 months and it's a pretty day,a bit cold but who cares.:)
Had some heavy .44Mag loads already loaded
for my pistols,so I figured I'd give 'em a try.
23grs of H110 / Rem 240GrJHP /Rem. cases.
The little Ruger digested them without a hitch. :)
Didn't do any serious sight'n in ,just wanted to make a little noise.
I can see why a lot of hunters like this gun for brush,it's easy to carry and fast handling.
A good low powder scope, work up a few loads,
put on a sling and give it a clean'n and slick'n up.
This 'Old Dog' will hunt again. :D
Anybody have one of these guns or just want to make a comment on them, please do.
