The first thing I did was buy a Marlin model 1894, in 44-40, engraved, 26" barrel, with the Marlin man riding a horse (Tex and Patches) enlayed in gold.

The second thing I did was buy a Marlin model 1894, in 45 Colt, 26" barrel.

The third thing I did was buy a Marlin, model 1894, in 357 Magnum, with a 26" barrel.

The next dumb thing I am going to do, is to buy a Marlin Model 1894, in 44 Magnum, with a 26" barrel, when I can find it.

Hmmmmm..... Monday 4:00AM I got up with a great pain in in back. Yesterday afternoon I had a kidney stone that was "stuck" blasted to sand with a Sonic-something blaster in the hospital..... Now that was a HELL of a week.............:)

Well, it's not like me to tempt a person to excess, but:

The first in a (rumored) new series of pistol caliber carbines from Marlin... limited to 251 rifles!!!

The first are chambered for .41 Magnum

After suffering a severe mind-meld with my 1895G, I ordered one of these .41s, and hope to pick up the same serial number in future calibers. :D

Jim101 been there, but passed mine with out the help of the Lithotripter(sonic machine). Took a huge belt of morphine in the Emergency Room to get me to calm down and quit puking from the pain. To any guy out there if you ever have the choice between a kidney stone and a kick in the family jewels take the kick. It's a walk in the park compared to passing a kidney stone. To any ladies out there a nurse friend of mine has had children and kidney stones. She told me the pain of passing a kidney stone is like child birth, compressed to about an hour.
Back on subject how about a Marlin in 444? That calibur has always fascinated me.

I have a 1895 Marlin, 45-70, 26" Octagonal barrel in my safe. :D

I went by the gunshop again, I should learn to stop that. But, there in the pistol case laid a mint Ruger SA in 45 Colt. and get this -- It was an old THREE SCREW MODEL too. Now that pistol is in waiting period purgatory too. I get it next friday. Damn Californias 10 day waiting period, anyway ...

I had Gallstones that did that too me. The pain was indescribable. When the stone refused to pass, it cost me my gall bladder, a large piece of my liver, and fifteen days in a hospital fighting an infection.

When I worked at Hughes Aircraft, the head drawing checker was off for a week with Kidney stones. When he finally got back I asked him how it was. He said; after pissing four feet of anchor chain, he was doing all right.

Edited to add: You need to drink a lot more water, than you do now, because it can happen again ... Don't you like hearing that?

I got zapped last Tues., it's still there. about a 1/2 the size, waiting a week then they will zap it again. christ...........
As for the water, has nothing to do with it, has to do with my body making them, taking tests for that. I drink 128oz. of water a day, really.....A doctor told me I drink to MUCH water, go figure........

Sounds like you made quite a haul Bill. I'm still looking for a nice old model Marlin 39A. We're looking for a range report from you now.

ICE:
The older model 39A's are all nice rifles. However, I think the newer ones are just as nice. The older 39's will probably feel smoother because of the use they have had, causingthe action to smoot it's self out a a lot.

The thing I liked about the older 39A's is they had a heavier round barrel in both the 39A, and the 39M.

There is a new 39M model out called the Texan, which has a octagonal barrel. And I may buy it. I always need a new Marlin 22 Lever gun ...

I haven't been to the range in quiet a while. My wife is too ill, and I have been staying close to the house, except to venture out to the gun shop once in a while.

The 1894 Marlin, in 45 Colt, is now snuggled up beside the newly arrived three screw Ruger Blackhawk, in 45 Colt, in my gun safe. Maybe something will happen, could it be a blessed event, from all of this cuddling and snuggling, in my safe?
