MAKING LIFE'S LEMONS INTO LEMONADE . . You'll' remember last week's story about the mom of a fifth-grader at John Hill School in the suburban New Jersey town of Boonton (http://www.boonton.org/schools/schools/jhs/jhs.htm) who refused to return a firearms reference book her son checked out of the school's library. The New Jersey Daily Record wrote about NSSF's donation (http://www.dailyrecord.com/news/columnists/koloff/news17-akcolumnbarroso.htm) of firearms safety information to the school and its library in response to the story, and about materials that show young people are among 40 million Americans who safely participate in the shooting sports in New Jersey and elsewhere. Jim Shepherd of The Outdoor Wire (http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/towIssue.php?day=4&month=4&year=2005) is offering to make the Boonton donation idea into a program he'll support throughout the nation, writing "We have always made it our practice to donate all books and instructional material sent to us for review or consideration to youth programs. Maybe it's time we tried to institutionalize that practice across our industry. Other noteworthy campaigns have been launched by equally insignificant happenings. Should the over-reaction of a single New Jersey mother motivate us all to become proactive about spreading the truth about firearms, it might be the Parsippany, New Jersey, newspaper did the entire firearms universe a huge favor, albeit accidentally." Read about Shepherd's offer and how you can get involved nationally and in your own community at http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/towIssue.php?day=4&month=4&year=2005 (http://www.theoutdoorwire.com/towIssue.php?day=4&month=4&year=2005) .

"Parsippany, New Jersey"

What an appropriate name for a town!

(sounds a little like "Persnickety" - is that a real word? my mom used to use it)
