I've already sent mine...I walk across the street to the shopping center to the Regal here...But I guess I will be driving elsewhere now...
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have been receiving reports across the state (and US) that Regal
and United Artist cinemas are banning guns. (United Artists cinema's
around Richmond have been bought out by Regal, hence that change).
The signs, posted on the doors, read "You are prohibited from
carrying firearms or concealed firearms in or onto these premises."
BTW, you are allowed to carry your wallet to other theaters instead
of theirs ;-0
It is time for them to get emails on this.

Sample Subject: Regal's 'no firearms' signs
Sample message:
Dear Mr. Roberts,
I am offended by Regal's 'no firearms' signs on its theater doors.
As a law-abiding citizen with a concealed handgun permit, I have had
a thorough background check and have had firearms training. I am
trusted by the Commonwealth of Virginia to carry a handgun with me
almost anywhere I go. Yet, Regal is indicating by those signs that
it does not trust me.
Theaters are not crime-free zones. Crime happens in and around
theaters all the time.
While I, a decent, law-abiding person, won't carry a gun beyond such
a sign, a violent criminal will laugh at your sign on his way in.
What you have done is to take away my right to defend myself in an
emergency and, worse, told criminals that every patron coming out of
your theaters is a helpless victim.
Fortunately, the other theaters in Virginia have no such signs on
their doors and I will be spending my money there until such time as
Regal removes those signs.
Sincerely,

Guess this is going on in New Hampshire also. I havent noticed as the last time I was in a theater was for LOTR:ROTK. They have the right to hang the sign just as I have the right to take my $$ elsewhere.

How would they know? Joe Sixpack goes through all the training and background checks required to get a CWP/CCW or what ever it is called in your state and uses his permit, his wife/girlfriend/paramour want to see a movie being shown at an UA theater and the sign is up. How ould the ticket seller, ticket taker, ushers, manager know if Joe was armed or not. They going to set up metal detectors like at airports? Wand all customers? Frisk the good looking ones? And what is the penalty if Joe doese carry into the thrater and is found out? Is it a crime or what?
It may behove people in VA or NH to print up some cards that say:
"I am licensed to carry a concealed weapon in (fill in state) after passing a background check conducted in state and by the FBI. I went through firearms training to receive tmy permit. According to your sign, I can not exercise my right to carry a firearm in your place of business. Therefore I am informing you that, if that is the case, YOU and the company you work for are assuming all responsibility for my safety. If I or any member of my family suffer a criminal attack while we are in your building, I or my heirs will sue you until your eyes bleed."

Hey R.D. ....
A couple of years ago a bunch of folks, here in Michigan, had some business cards printed up to cover these occations.
I couldn't find the link ( was going to send it to you ) so I called on a lovely lady that's very active in firearms rights in this area.
She put this together for you .... if it helps you might want to thank her, it sure wasn't my efforts that came up with the information;
She sez' .........................................................................................
In fact, never mind that - I looked them over and looked at VA law and these should do.... I just changed the word Michigan to Virginia... see what he thinks....

R.D. ....
Not just a red-head, and a school teacher, and a 'puter whiz .... a certified instructor.
O.S. ....
I would invite her to FFF if I thought she could find the time to get involved.
The board she operates ( CPLtrainer ) is much like FFF except that it is Michigan specific and is more closely firearms and law structured. Between that and the firearms courses she teaches .... busy girl.

I don't watch movies. I have enough problems with my own fantasies to spend time and money watching someone else's.
That being said, this action is :bs: and if I were part of the movie going public I would be tempted to ignore it.

I have seen one movie in the states in three years, and that one movie sucked (troy)
I wont be going to see any more in the theaters.
That said i am still sending an Email.

One quick plug:
For the price of a few guns (heck, I did it for the price of 2 production 1911s), you can get yourself a home theater system that will sounds FAR better than just about any movie theater you might find. Figure about $1000 for speakers, $500 for a receiver and DVD player, and pick your own TV, and you can smoke any theater out there. Now, I only go to the theater for special events; no point in giving them $20 per trip (for 2 people) when that same cash per month gets you all the DVDs you want from Netflix.

There are very few times I visit the local theatre, I'd rather watch them at home on my Big Screen. Anyway when I do go, and I feel the need to have a CCW with me, I will do so! If it's concealed how are they going to know and what are they going to do other than ask you to leave?
But I realize it's the ignorant principle!

I think that we have some Regal theaters in my area. I know there is one in Macon that I used to visit when I lived in Middle GA. I'll look to see if they are on the theaters around here.
There haven't been many movies to attract me to the theaters lately.

This is the response I recieved:
May 09, 2005
Dear Mr. ****:
Thank you for taking the time to communicate your concerns regarding our facility security policies. Please understand that Regal Entertainment Group, with the assistance of safety experts and law enforcement personnel, has developed policies and procedures designed to provide the safest environment for our guests and employees. Rest assured these policies and procedures are not designed with the intent to inconvenience or otherwise cause hardship to our guests. However, we believe these policies appropriate to assure the general safety of all guests and employees.
Again, thank you for taking the time to advise us of your concerns.
Sincerely,
Lisa Beeler
Customer Relations Associate
I am thinking up an appropriate response at this time.

"Dear Lisa, Does your response mean that Regal Entertainment has assumed all responsibility for my safety while I am in one of your theaters? Since only the law abiding will honor this policy, you and your company must plan on assuring my safety with your policy regarding concealed weapons."

Dear Lisa,
Since your response was really a cop out (pun intended) then I will take my money elsewhere where I feel safe to relax knowing that I have the capability to protect myself rather than having to wait 15mins or more for the police to arrive and discover my corpse.

That is why I LOVE to live in states that make it impossible for these people to enforce their laws on us.
Here, they can have all the signs they wish, but they can't do anything if we carry.

Cruse the parking lot of a local theater, pick up a couple of their discarded ticket stubs to pack in your note, & inform them they are the LAST tickets you buy from their organization till they remove their signs. :P A tickedoff cash customer will get their attention a LOT more than an e-mail flood. :P :P :P
