Have a few questions for some of you C&R types that have been at it for awhile. What's with all the Rebuild/Restored Mil Surps being advertised as C&R? Is this just commercials trying to bag big bucks from new C&Rs? I understand the commercial Rebuild/Restoration making them more desirable as shooters (mechanical items wear out eventually) but it doesn't make them more collectible, or I'm missing something. Since getting my C&R I've seen ads for barreled actions, Rebarreled mil surps, new wood for mil surps. Arsenal rebuilds happen and maybe even add to the value of a mil surp, because of where it's been or how it has been used. I just don't understand commercial rebuilds forty years after the mil surp has been declared obsolete as enhancing the value to a collector. :D

It doesn't enhance the value to the collector. It does enhance the value to the shooter. A rebuild does not keep the weapon from being a C&R. Remember, fancy, expensive advertising often does wonders.

For the company that does the advertising. Not for the buyer.

Anyone ordered from J&G in Prescott? Do you usually get what you expect? Just ordered Mosin M44 and Turkish m1938 Mauser from them. Will this make me happy or unhappy?

I bought my Yugo SKS from them about a year ago. It was as advertised.

Got my Mosin M44yesterday and the M38 Turkish Mauser. The Mosin is real nice but I'll have to shovel the Cosmo off the Mauser before I can see what she looks like. So far I'm all the way down to the metal on the ring so I can read the Crescent and Ankara, and 1940. I left her sitting out today hoping this weather will melt some of the Cosmo off and let it drip.
