Where did you visit? (city, state, country)

Las Vegas, NV

Approx date of travel:

Feb. 2005

Where did you stay? (lodging)
The Sahara (Tungis Towers)

How was the place you stayed at? (very nice, overpriced, dirty, etc)
The hotel room was very clean, newer bathroom, controllable AC, and decent housekeeping. When you are in Vegas, you don't spend much time in your room, so the Sahara worked good for us. Out of four stars, I would give this hotel a 3.

Approx. price of lodging:
$59 a night

How did you get there? (plane, car, train)
Plane America West Airlines

Approx. cost to get there:
Approx. $65 one way per person

Places of interest:

The entire strip! M&M World, New York New York, Bally's , Flamingo, Mirage, Harley Davidson Cafe, The dancing fountains, Ceasars shops & live statues! Almost anywhere on the strip was decent. We did not venture off the strip this trip but I hear downtown LV is pretty nice too.

Try to visit Slots O Fun! That was a great place and good odds!

Places to eat and approx. cost:
Boardwalk all you can eat buffet $12. Good food! Sahara has several resturants including the NASCAR cafe' all which were decent priced and good food. There are a TON of places to eat out there, but in the short time we were there, those are the few places we ate at.

Any areas to avoid?
The side streets right off the strip late at night. Strange people hanging around and kind of dark. Also, be aware that if you drive, they do drive VERY fast out there! Be prepared to feel as if you are a NASCAR driver. :D

Pro's of this vacation:
Free beer! The monorail is excellent, IMO. We paid $10 for an all day pass. You can get from one end of the strip to the other in approx 10 minutes. There are several stops along the way and you can use that pass to get on and off the train as often as you'd like. It's way better than driving and alot cheaper than taking a cab.

The atmosphere was also a lot of fun. People are out all night long.

The rooms are generally cheap (unless you stay at one of the four star hotels) and the drinks are free, so you can spend your money elsewhere.

Con's of this vacation:

We went on a weekend, so things were really packed. If it's possible to go during a weekday, you're better off doing that. Rooms are cheaper during the week as well.

Additional comments:

I have already posted some general information in members only back in Feb. that consist of many pictures. Since this is a new forum and basically an 'example' thread, I will leave the link to the original post. Members should add their pictures in this forum, rather than in one of our other forums. Vegas was great and I think it's something everyone should see if at all possible.
