For the concern that someone has developed for these few little piggies they have commissioned a 4 year study into what to do with them.

Which ranges from Do nothing to have a cull and exterminate every single one?

In the middle there is the prospect of new law to cover hunting them and having a .270 calibre with a 130gn bullet specified as a minimum requirement for hunting them with (there is no such requirement at the moment)

Your 2 cents on this please

The absolute best management of wildlife is hunting. The biologists know exactly what needs taken to keep the herd under control.

How big are the boar? If they are like the picture, then I would want a larger projectile.

.270 caliber with a 130 gr projectile? That seems to be a minor case of overkill. I use a .44 magnum revolver loaded with heavies. Of course, 35 yds is an average shot for me.

There are young men out here with small brains and large gonads who jump out of trees with a large knife and ride wild pigs while stabbing them to death. They are usually sucessful but you ought to see what they look like afterwards!

I have seen the unfortunate dogs during a feral pig hunt in central PRK - ripped up pretty bad. Even with sttiches, these dogs were still itching to get into it again!

Dogs bred for running pigs are that way. They live for the hunt.

I don't use dogs. I don't hunt pigs when the sun is all the way up. Pigs are noctournal, get 'em early in the morning.

270 is plenty big. When I finaly get to go I will use Super Blackhawk 44 mag.

The knife part. Got a friend that hunts them with a knife. He does use a dog. Wanted me to go with him and give it a try. I said you gotta be kidding. I'm away to old for that. He said no youre not. I said you are crazy.

Boar spear, face the charge and then stick 'em. (Be sure the spear has the cross bar so the wee piggy doen't get too far down the shaft.)

That's a tradition that's kinda died out lately ;)
What's 'enough' gun??? I don't own a .270 = got a 6.5x55 Swede mauser M94 carbine that don't meet the proposed 'standards' in GB, but the Swedes use them regularly to knock over "Elk" = European Moose

Whatever they decide, hope you get yours  :D

BTW: Culls don't work :( participated in 1 depredation shoot (don't ever want to do that again  ) High body count, but the scrufulus pests were BACK the NEXT Year!
