Would someone be so kind as to explain to me how to include a picture in a post? I didn't see anything in FAQ about it. Do you have to have your own website to link to or something?

I'm not the best to tell you about this but.....
They must be located on a site somewhere on the 'net. Once they are to insert them you need to type in something like this:
{img}yadayadayada.com{/img}. Now simply replace the { } with [ ] and, assuming the remote site they are linked to it will come up.
When looking at the post before your click send/submit/enter whatever....(one would think I would know exactlly what it says but I don't :o) the URL must have .jpeg after it as the end of the URL. Otherwise that puppy ain't gonna appear and you are going to be driving yourself nuts over it. It happens.
Try it by posting a test in this thread if you have a pic saved on some remote site and see what happens. Iffin it doesn't come up we can work on it from here. I'm bettin' we can get it up some way some how. ;)

Now I know why you have been bugging me on that other topic Bill. ;)
Close... but a couple of minor things. You should only try to post image files that have a file type of filename.jpg or filename.gif These are the only extensions that ALL web browsers understand. There are some browsers that understand other extensions, but those two are universal. There are a number of Image editing programs that will change different types of image files into one of these two formats. (I use Lview Pro) The .jpg files will be smaller in most cases and thus be faster to load.
You will need to have your pictures posted on a web site that will allow remote linking. Not all of them do. PhotoUSA use to do that for free. No longer. Some free web services (like geocities) will not allow remote links even thought you "own" the site. :rolleyes:
Bill was pretty close on the syntax. For example, here is how I would post a link to a photo on my web site.
{img}http://www.dbl-tap.com/images/tigger-fire1.jpg{/img}
I would replace the {} with [] if I were really posting this.
This would imbed the picture into the post itself. Like below.
http://www.dbl-tap.com/images/tigger-fire1.jpg
If I wanted to post just a LINK to the picture, I would use the following:
{url=http://www.dbl-tap.com/images/tigger-fire1.jpg}Link to picture {/url}
(replace the {} with [] once again)
This would show up in the text as simply a hyperlink that says Link to picture (http://www.dbl-tap.com/images/tigger-fire1.jpg) Then anyone who clicked on the link would be taken directly to my website and that particular picture.
I hope that helps.
HINT: If you click on the EDIT or QUOTE button above a message that has a picture in it... you can see the source code with the protper syntax to see how someone posted an image. And you might even get a hint as to which web services offer picture hosting. ;)

OK, my digital camera does JPEGs and that is what I'd be using. I looked at the ASAphoto thingy on the Photos forum and it seemed to be asking for a URL or something in order to submit. Both of the ladies with stuff on that forum seem to be using Yahoo photo albums. I'm assuming the mechanism for putting up the pix is similar for both. If I sign up for one of these Yahoo photopages for instance, how do I get the photo to it? I feel like there is something really fundamental that I'm missing here. (Forgive my ignorance, but all I've ever done with them is send them as email attachments a couple of times.) I'm also assuming that the little code the camera gives the picture is not the "filename" to which you were referring.

Kalvan,
Most of the services will provide a web based upload page. YOu enter the name of the file into the web page and it will take care of putting the file on their site for you.

Or you could do it the easy way :D
Instead of typing the image tag {img} at the beginning & end {/img}of the URL
You can click the image button below the reply box & a window will pop up for ya. Then you only have to paste the URL in the box :)
Same goes for doing the link Bubba suggested. Click the URL button below & you get two pop up windows. One for the URL & One for the title you want to give it.
Men! Always trying to make it harder than it has to be :D

There are at least three ways to accomplish anything, there's the right way, the wrong way, and then best of all is Bubba's way! :rolleyes: :p :D
