South-East Michigan Members ..... |

It appears that there is another push to gain momentum to close down the
Island Lake Shooting Range in Brighton. There will be a hearing on
March 23rd at the Brighton Township Hall in Brighton from 5- 6:30pm. We
just got this information today! Please pass this along to everyone in
your Districts- there are too few shooting ranges out there as it is and
this one should be kept open for the public's enjoyment, not closed
because some people who moved there after it was already in operation
feel that it's a nuisance.
This hearing is being sponsored by Representative Chris Ward from
District 66. You can also call his office toll free at 1-800-295-0066

John Henry... I'll call his office this morning.
This kind of nonsense happens too frequently. Move to a place and then "change" your neighbors. It's rather like getting married with the idea you will "change" your spouse.

This one is goofy beyond most ..... The range ( which has been rebuilt to conform to every code in the book ) is on the south side of I-96, ( you can picture the traffic noise ) and the "people" complaining are not only north of the E-Way they are north of the Kensington park golf course. If you can picture the area that will make sense .... the idea that the sound of gunfire "annoying" them is ( I can think of several words .... each having more **** than the one previous ).

FYI I called this morning. The secretary asked if I was a member of the club or a resident of the community and told me they were taking commentaries only from those groups.
Methinks the deck is stacked. Not being one to let a bureaucrat get the best of me... I sent an email to a friend in the AG's office who will pass it around the various offices in Lansing. He is also having lunch with a state rep and will mention it to her. :D
A friend who write for the Detroit Free Press has also had my thoughts emailed to him. :D
This is so stupid it goes way beyond idiotic.

Sounds good ! That area needs all the help it can get.
I don't use that range .... but, I'm very sensitive to this sort of "harassment" .
I'm planning to attend the meeting .... living outside of the area I won't be ask to speak .... just as a small show of support for the shooters in the community.

Hint: Maybe the club will quietly take honorary memberships.....
Then you would qualify. ;)

Ant ....
That's part of the interesting nature of this whole circus .... we're not talking about a private club. This is a public range that's part of a state owned park, Island Lake Rec. Area ;

In the last 3 years the state has spend tons of $$$ in a complete rebuild of the range. New berms, new baffles, the entire thing done in compliance with state regulations. I, myself, have seen sound-monitoring equipment operating around the range, during trap and skeet shoots, to verify noise compliance.
.... and, there is still one group screaming about noise pollution and "invasion of thier privacy".

The gun grabbers don't care about noise. They don't want you to have anywhere to shoot.
:censor:the gun grabbers and the crooked politos that support them
that sorry azz politco will probally win and shatcan the range.

Sooooo, I went to the council meeting.
Couldn't be much more P/O'd if I tried ..... the council is so sensitive of not offending any voters .... protecting thier jobs that they couldn't provide a ruling.
The issue will go to court ! Court date is T.B.D.
