Adirondacks NY State Vacation. (OLD FORGE)
Well, rent a place in Old Forge New York and get ready for a great vacation. It has NY States largest water park. The water park is pretty good and also includes rides. There is tons of miniature golf for the kiddies. Real Golf courses for the adults. There are canoeing trips to be had. There is camping. There are tons of hiking and mountain biking trails. You can get decent pizza and surprisingly good chinese food. The Hard Times Cafe on Rte 28 serves a whopper breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a decent price.
The town has a public beach. You can rent a boat or skidoo and go out and explore the Seven Lakes. There is antique shopping and the neatest country general store you will see anywhere. You can also take a plane ride which lands and takes off on the lakes. The views are spectacular. If you are into road biking you can traverse Rte. 28.
There is a scenic railroad which is very neat. Sometimes train robberies are arranged for the kiddies. Restaurants run the gamut from fast food to elegant.
There is a great visitors center in town with tons of free info. There are two arcades for the kiddies. There is a town library for a few cerebral moments and their are the requisite touristy shops you would expect.
You can make a day trip to the historic Adirondack Museum. You can just sit back and enjoy the crisp mountain air at night or the calm in the morning as canoes paddle by. Did I mention the two steamboats that tour the lake. Mail is still delieverd by boat in the summers to the homes along the lake. The ice cream stand in town is great. The town shuts down at 10 pm but there are gin mills you can go to and be entertained.
I have gone to OLD FORGE several times and have never been disappointed.
Oh yes. They have fishing. You can get your license in town. The place is just great!
