This is a form letter I sent out a couple weeks ago to a bunch of website forums. We're still working on our site, ut we need all the participation we can get. We're currently working on a drive against HR 1022, a new version of the '94 Assault Weapons Ban, only this one will outlaw stuff like semi auto shotguns, Ruger 10/22's, Remington 742, etc. We hope this flies. Thanks.

"Hi, I'm Bret, a moderator on castbooilts.gunloads.com. We're trying to get all the various gun and hunting forums together to form a grass roots push for our gun rights. The recent Zumbo debacle showed what we can do. So I'm asking you to please join us and get something going. I'm hoping we can distribute info among the boards and get the memberships active. NRA, etc. Should be doing this, but they aren't. Maybe if we start getting active they'll work with us instead of just begging for our money. The current site is at http://www.stopguncontrol.info/forum/index.php It's just starting and we hope it'll fly. This isn't a power struggle among the boards and we don't want that. I'm hoping the Moderators and Webmasters can advise the groups as opposed to having all the memberships involved as it seems there'd be lees problems that way. Please stop by and join us in this.

BTW- I'm just a regular guy trying to help get this going. So any help you can offer would be appreciated. Thanks"

I've seen the effort and it is a good idea.

The only point I would make is that the NRA did take a strong stance against Zumbo.

I wish you good luck in your important effort.

I also like the idea, But to be truthfull the NRA took a strong stance against Zumbos blog comments. Since Jim Zumbo has lambasted the Congresscritter who quoted that blog, and corrected/clarified his position/point-of-view, the NRA position may be entirely different toward Jim Zumbo himself. So long as he is willing to turn to an absolutist view of the 2nd and apply ENERGY to correcting his miss-statement and erronious previous position, I'm willing to stand behind his current position, And I strongly suspect that the NRA will as well.

Thanks for the response guys. I know the letter reads like I'm down on NRA. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm a Life member and I realize the important work they do. The issue is all the folks who complain about the letters, emails and calls asking for money, and the lack of responsivness from NRA's big wigs. As one guy wrote me, "Trying to get to one of the top brass is like trying to get to the top of Everest, they fight you every inch of the way." So I tried presenting this as an alternative idea.

Be that as it may, our idea is to organize the hundreds of thousands of people who visit all the gun, hunting, fishing, target, self defense and sport shooting websites. I thought there were a hundred or so sites. Now I realize there are probably over 1,000 sites to contact and I can't do it all by myself.

I also have issues with just how I can get this to work. I have actually had negative responses to my request from some sites. That I don't understand. If any of you wish to join in and keep up on this please stop by the site. Your help will be greatly appreciated, as will any ideas on how to improve what we have.

That's the whole problem, people who think "my guns aren't your guns".
I'm aware of the movement, and am helping out where ever I can.
Including posting this message to bump your thread to the top. Thanks for your work.
