I got this in an e-mail news letter from the North American Hunting Club. I'm just wondering what's next.

Colorado BB Gun Law Debate Begins
Colorado lawmakers began a week of legislative fighting over BB guns on Tuesday to determine whether the guns should be considered as deadly weapons.

Sen. Mark Hillman will try to convince the Senate Judiciary Committee that a BB or pellet gun is not a deadly weapon unless it’s used to cause death or bodily injury.

But that’s not the way that prosecutors see it. Peter Weir, executive director for the Colorado District Attorneys Council, says that prosecutors don’t want the law changed. They insist that today’s more powerful BB and pellet guns frequently look like real guns and can maim or kill.

Both the Senate and the House plan to hold committee hearings later this week over gun bills dealing with conceal carry, safe storage and background checks.

Weir says that BB gun velocity studies show that the pellets have the capability of penetrating both skin and muscle.

“Some are CO-2 cartridge-driven or pump-action. They can be deadly if someone is shot at close range in the temple or behind the ear,” he said. “The district attorneys are taking that very seriously. We are opposed to this bill.”

The bill is dead (Senate Judiciary Cmte is notoriously anti-gun and the to make matters worse the Senate is now controlled by the Dems with a 1 vote majority). The real reason for introducing it is that cops in Denver and other anti-gun locales are arresting kids for having a BB gun and the kid will plea-bargain out to a felony and can't ever own a gun after they do.
