Cleaning rods for an 8 ga double barreled shotgun?..:duh:

It's a Dewey Manufacturing benchrest cleaning rod combo. It carries two nylon cleaning rods with precision ball bearing handles. One rod has a patch jag on it and the other has a bronze brush. If you're target shooting, breaking in a barrel or shooting prairie puppies, you can switch back and forth between the patch rod and the brush rod without having to manually unscrew the brush and the jag. It's much more convenient and less messy. The rods are secured by a nylon set screw so they don't slide out of their tandem trombone style tubes and they can't roll off the bench or table. It's very slick and protects the cleaning rods from damage. All in all, one of the better inovations for the rifle shooter.

Nice idea. I am almost done breaking in a barrel and swapping back and forth between loops and brushes nearly did me in. I have come to prefer the Otis pull-through system, though, and I just bought an extra one for exactly this reason.

I use the Deweys.

I guess I am missing something. Why not just have two regular rods? Patch and brush attached if you want to save time.

That's what they are. It's the twin holders I'm crowing about.

Geuss the tubes did not grab my attention because I keep the rods upright when not using them so never really had a problem with them rolling off the table.

Is having two rods a better system than a bore snake or two?

I use a dewey on my nice guns, and I dont mind switching between a jag and a brush....

I like the ball bearing handles on the Dewey rods, but have never been a fan of the rods themselves. The rods are to flexable for my like'n and the coat'n wears off to fast.

I've been using one particular Dewey rod daily at work for more than five years. On average, I clean between four and fourteen firearms a day. It does flex some but the coating has not worn off.

I've had mine about 5 years and so far it looks close to as good as the day I bought it, at least as far as these old eyes can tell.

It might be a tad flexible, but it does not wobble like the two piece types.

I don't clean firearms as much as Popeye but I do clean at least a couple every two weeks and often more frequently than that when the weather is great.
