Getting ready to purchace a .22 magnum semi-auot pistol, the pistol is called the excellorator and is made by a company called excel armes, I have always wanted a pistol that was chambered in .22 magnum, preferably a Ruger target pistol but for some reason they have never come out with one, so I stumbled over this one and am wanting to hear your thoughts on it, you can check it out at www.excelarmes.com (http://www.excelarmes.com) let me no what you think.

Your link is incorrect.

www.excelarms.com (http://www.excelarms.com) I think is the site you are referring to

Is this the pistol you purchased. Looks pretty neat. As long as she shoots/cycles, I'd say good purchase.

Well sell them. They are very well made. They easily convert from .22 Win Mag to .17 HMR. Their rifles sells better than their handguns.

$520 for a plastic .22WMR pistol seems pricey to me... and, yes, I do realise that there's no glut of makers. Still, will performance from it be achieved or, like my automag, does barrel length keep it down near lr performances? Anxious for a range report.

You ain't ever gonna get 22" WMR speeds from 8" of barrel.... but .22 Magnum handguns offer the same speeds as a .22LR fired from a rifle.... and that ain't bad! :D

How are the ergonomics... is the pistol really muzzle heavy? The grip seems a bit squarish... is it?

This little pistol could force me to another Dallas gun show for a touchy-feely, since none of the local dealers stock them.

I've not considered purchasing one but have played with them a little.

The pistol seems heavy for its size and its not small. The grip is "strange" but not uncomfortable. In my hands, it points naturally.

Don't mean to pee-pee in anyone's Wheaties but I gave up on the .22 R.F. Mag years ago when I had a couple Ruger Single Six models.
That little round from a short barreled pistol will ring your ears and likely do damage if you don't muff up yer ears.
Ammo for the Maggie runs anywhere from 9 bucks to 15 bucks a box.
To get .22 l.r. velocity?
22 l.r. ammo cost as little as 2 cents a shot.
Remington 550 round bulk pack is still cheap at the new higher price at wally of $13 bucks.
To each his own but we do expect and range report.
I would especially like to know if the thing cycles all bullet wieghts available.

I've got an Automag II. Great fun to shoot. Very accurate. All stainless (except the grips), and it didn't cost me anywhere near $520.

Best, Ops

Best, OpsThe gun suggested retail 433.00 the 520.00 price with a scope package, you can also get a interchangable .17 HMR cal barrel for 160.00 dollars extra kind of cool, I have both cal's already, so plenty of ammo already stockpiled, when it was cheap.

Scopes on handguns don't float my boat. If I need 'crosshair' accuracy I'll use a rifle. But that's just me.

But... what the hey? If this is the gizmo that does it for you... go for it.

Best, Ops

Looks like an interesting pistol. I hope you really enjoy it.

I have a S&W model 651 with a 4" barrel. It does lose velocity from the short cylinder gapped barrel, but it still hits a lot harder than a .22 LR. I've shot several large feral dogs with it, and they dropped like rocks. Its louder than a .22LR, but nothing like a .357 or .41.
