What's with the S&W forums not allowing me to sign up with an AOL e-mail? It's the only address I've ever had - and, since they don't allow Yahoo either I don't even know where to go to get another that they might accept. That's the only reason I would get one, and probably never use it again.

Haven't been there in YEARS since I was banned from there by the then new owner who didn't want me around as an admin.

I had the same problem, so I got a Hotmail address. Guess what? Yup, no hotmail allowed either. I emailed them twice and never even received the courtesy of a reply.

So, being a mellow guy, I say screw 'em. :irk:

There are a lot of sites that went that way. It is supposed to help curb the spam but its a pain in the behind for people that only use those as their email addresses. My primary email address is a @gmail.com. I have two other addresses forwarded to that address for when I was in school. Twas quite a pain since my school address was two letters and 8 random numbers@school.edu or something painful to remember.

Anyways, most sites like that can permit you to register if you email them but like CA357 said most don't care and ignore you.

They won't take gmail addresses either. I've been told it had alot to do with one guy who was using the free webmail to register, then send harrassing emails to members, or something like that.

So they blocked an entire user base? Interesting. Why not just turn him over to his ISP?

Never mind, I don't want to know. Their board, their rules.

I thought I would get their take on how to handle my Hand Ejector First Change Target pistol in 32-20 and it's condition. Keep as same, recondition, sell as is? I bought it to be a shooter, it is. It appears to be relatively rare and may be significantly more valuable than I want. I don't want a gun that should be kept on a velvet cushion because of it's rarity. If it is of that value I would rather exchange it for some cash and a shooter in 32-20 than take a chance on damage to a valuable, rare firearm.

It's a serial number 229xx, 6" pencil barrel, dings on the barrel, questionable front sight, damaged rear sight blade. Generously 50% original finish. A very well used, and accurate, gun.

Wayne, if it is a 32-20 Target, use it and enjoy it. S&W made revovlers to be used, not to be hid away. They left that to the other company!

If it is a 32-20 Target franken-revolver, the fellow who modified it would have wanted you to use it and enjoy it.

Well, now this is an interesting topic. I thought I was the only one banned from the "S&W Forum". It didn't take me very long to find out that it was run by a very few, possibly snobs, who allowed some long time users to "bully" new members by ganging up and ridiculing them, rather than post friendly or intelligent comments. Kind of like a private club. They really have no affiliation with S&W, other than using their images and logos, etc. I have already found this group, family & friends, far more mutually polite and, it's hard to put into words.....just a nicer place to be on the internet. I was banned from S&W forum because I finally put few people in their place after 5-6 pages of harassment(I just gave them back what they had been dishing out), and all of a sudden I was banned. Never cussed, or wished them dead (like one guy did to me in a thread post). I haven't heard of anyone of my antagonists getting kicked off, and their comments FAR outclassed mine. I requested a "review" by the webmaster, never heard back, sent him another message thanking him for his "attention" to my request, and that I now "fully understood". It was a useful place for info, but don't step on anyone's toes. In the meantime, I totally ENJOY this place. For anyone that wants to check out MY alleged reasons for being banned, see if you can go into S&W forum and find me (Twogunsstanding) anywhere, particularly "Does anyone carry chamber empty", or "does anyone carry cocked, not locked" in the CCW column. They may have deleted all of my postings, so I may be just a not-so-fond memory for them.

I had some issues registering there some years ago and this thread had me interested so I checked it out. Seems I was registered there in 2004 but never posted.
I did my new member intro tonight and made a couple posts and am already trying to work a trade on a S&W Model 57 in 3 inch:)

Seems a pretty much gun oriented site but will watch my P's and Q's there.
I'm pretty happy here though as you seem to all ignore my rough edges and don't hold it against me too often, Wad and Rich excepted.

I don't know why they don't accept yahoo, AOL, etc., but I can say that they have a good forum there with knowledgable and helpful folks. I have purchased four S&W revolvers from the forum members there and all of the transactions went smoothly and honestly.

There is now a waiting period before members are accepted here. It took me a few days before I was authorized to post. Sometimes the inconvenience is worth it. It was worth it here and I'd say it was worth it on the smith-wessonforums.com.

I read over the thread that got you banned. I have no dog in this fight, but if you want my honest opinion, I think the ban was appropriate. My guess is that the same behavior would likely get you banned here as well. Just my opinion though, others may differ.

I have been a member there for some time and can still log on with the aol account I used initially. I have always found the members there civil and helpful and the only sale I arranged there went well, a local deal on a S&W mod. 30-1. But I don't spend much time there. The S&W forum is or was at one time run by the same folks that run the SigForum, from which I got suspended once just for mentioning CDNN. I did not even know what hit me and it was not until much later that I figured out why I was suspended.

But as Popeye said, their forum, their rules. I appreciate all the hard work all of the forum administrators put in, even if things get a little weird sometimes.

Speaking of whom, here's to the best of them all, the FFF folks! :tiphat::clap:

When I first tried to join FFF I was not allowed. I kept getting messages about the IP address being bad (or something like that). I went tdy out to the tribal area between Pakistan and Afghanistan and resubmitted from there, and this time my registration was approved. Always wondered about why I could get in from a Paki IP address but not from the Houston area. Guess there's just more bad guys from Texas.

Most of the Smith and Ruger foruns Will NOT accept Yahoo, A.O.L., or Hotmail.
So they are less one member.
Me.
Eveidently some of you too.
There are lots of places on the World Wide Web that accept all accounts.
They claim the reason is that it's too easy to get flooded with spam from these servers.
I don't believe that for a minute.

I remember when I joined the sigforum a long time ago (LOL, 1 1/2 years ago seems like a long time now) and I once mentioned it and people LOL'd at me but I had no clue why. Still don't.

Hello
Great thread, but the source of all the frustration is within the bounds of the Owner of that forum. His name is Mike Packwood and he reminds me of a reincarnated Aldoph Hitler so to speak. I too "Was" a Member of that forum for a long time. I used to sell & Buy S&W grips on there and most of the members were tire kickers not wanting to pay the full price I often dropped the price to keep all happy, and not cause rough waves there. I was accused of taking advantage of some of the members on my grips sales, but I deemed the problem to be Jealousy by the chosen Few that were tight with the owner, more so than taking advantage of anyone on that forum, Most wanted something for Nothing. This sparked a Flame War which in Turn earned me being Banned, then that led to a 30 some page slander thread by most that never dealt with me or even knew all the facts. :mad:I was not allowed to respond, so the results of that were similar to a One Legged man in an Ass Kicking Contest. I once offered Packwood some funds for his efforts of keeping the forum up and running and got in return a Nasty E-mail telling me he did not need "MY" Money to keep his forum running, so I never offered again. In all the transactions I completed on that forum, there were only Two that in my eyes did not go squeaky clean. Both were over a return issue of grips I had sold, One guy told me I had sold him the wrong frame size grips, so he wanted to return them. I agreed to refund his money once I saw the grips. He Then, cheaped out, and sent them first class without delivery confirmation or Insurance and they never showed on my end. He then flamed me, and said I cheated him out of his money, but he forgot to add I sent them insured with a delivery confirmation, Yet he Opted to be Cheap and not pay for any means to trace them.. I am still awaiting their return, and suspect they Never left his Hands. The other person said the finish I applied was too shiny. I again Offered to refund his Purchase money, but he wanted me to pay the shipping as well. This was after I had sent him digital Pictures of them prior to shipping them to him, and the finish showed up very nicely in the pictures, yet he complained and wanted a full refund once they arrived. I informed him, if he wanted a refund it was He that would have to pay the shipping of them back to me. After I was banned in this Hate thread they started, Many said I turned Vile on them but they did not speak of when they contacted me to purchase me grips of how they tried to cut my prices almost in half because they were Upstanding members of that forum. Later the forum owner used to Post threads either Bitching about the cost of his forum, or asking for some donations to help Finance it. Many got banned for no reason other than the owner did not agree with what they had said, or they stepped on the toes of his chosen Few, even after they sent him their Hard Earned dollars feeling it granted them shall we say, Liberal Post Forum immunity . :D Eventually Most got thick skinned about his requests for their donations and his sacred Cow dried up. :D He recently Gave his forum to another member of that forum, Yet did not give up his rights to run rough shod over the flock. He has some Very deep emotional imbalances and it finally showed through when he went through His Public Melt Down when he suggested he was going to charge members to View or buy from his classifieds section, and got many responses that members did not want that, He had Temper Tantrums muck like a 10 Year old each time someone said they would Not pay to view his classifieds, Lancing out and Banning members after he asked their Opinions on Donating to his forum. I Bid him Good riddence he is and always will be a Jerk in my eyes, and the Old saying Rings True, What Goes around Comes around and Mike Packwood sure Got his in the End.

Hey, I know there are a lot of good people over at S&W Forum, but I didn't go there looking for a fight, OR be insulted, and I just started flinging it back after I was provoked. A few intellingent souls picked up on what I was trying to say, but the forum censorship police decided I was the only one out of line. As someone else stated, it's their rules. Just don't care much for people who just enforce rules on only a few. If they had stepped in to tone down my atttackers earlier, I wouldn't have had to escalate. It's too bad, cause I'm a know-it-all, too, and I would have fit right in there.... (been shooting and swapping guns for 42 years now)

I think "bean counters" do one thing and one thing only..

They look at the bottom line, that's it in a nutshell..

I've had more than one S&W Customer Service person tell me that IN THEIR OPINIONS the 3rd Generation line of S&W pistols were among the best pistols S&W ever made.

Plastic pistols are all the rage now.. Pick up a gun mag and prepare yourself for being overwhelmed with plastic, or perhaps 1911 articles.. You'll be hard pressed to find one article about the 3gS pistol.

But, I've got mine, (3913/3913LS/5906/6906/CS9/CS45)..

I'll tell ya a 3gS that has really impressed me, and surprisingly so. I was so pleased with my CS9 that I bought a CS45 just for the fun of it, and the CS45 is amazingly accurate at self defense distance.

I like the CS45 so much it's become my larger caliber cc choice when I feel the need for a companion for my LWS380.

Best Wishes,

Jesse

3rd Generation S&W autos are awesome, steel-framed, too. How many S&W autos today are seel framed? Except for their 1911's and stuff coming out of the performance center, there are none as far as I know.

I like MP and SW99 concepts, why can't we have both the 3rd gen autos and them; too?Why indeed.

S&W Third Generation pistols are also bricks! If you don't believe me, carry one for eight hours.

I've carried the 3913TSW, 4013TSW & the 4513TSW regularly and they were about the same weight as other guns.

I wish that I had bought a S&W Model 1006 when they were plentiful! They are excellent pistols!
