A little girl was talking to her teacher about whales. The teacher said it was physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human because even though they were a very large mammal their throat was very small. The little girl stated that Jonah was swallowed by a whale. The teacher reiterated that a whale could not swallow a human, it was impossible. The little girl said, "When I get to heaven I will ask Jonah." The teacher asked, "What if Jonah went to hell?" The little girl replied, "Then you ask him." :D

There is at least one case outside the Bible of a person being swallowed whole by a whale, and living to tell the tale.
I don't remember the name of the whaling ship, or the exact date, but it was the late 1800's. After harpooning a whale, it sounded and then resurfaced under the whaleboat, capsizing it. One of the crewmen was swallowed, unbeknownst to the rest of the crew.
After the whale was dead, the crew proceeded to render it alongside the ship. The whale's stomach was removed and brought on deck, where it was noticed that there was some movement inside it. The stomach was cut open, and inside was the missing crewman. He was unconcious, but still alive. They doused him with buckets of seawater, and he eventually recovered. The acid in the whale's stomach took all the hair off his body, bleached his skin, and did some minor damage to his eyes. IIRC, the whale in question was a sperm whale. Knowing that these whales can and do eat giant squid, there is no doubt in my mind that one could swallow a human whole. (It should be noted that the crewman in question was a youngster in his teens, and not as big as some of his older counterparts.)
