I have a chance to buy some high capacity magazines for my Glock 19 and Beretta 92FS that are reputed to be preban. Since I live in NY State which prohibits high capacity (over 10 rounds) magazines, I want to be able to tell the difference between pre ban and post ban magazines so I don't break the law. Anybody have any information or photos to assist me?

Thanks.

If you are talking about the federal AWB of 94 which sunset in 04, any post ban magazine manufactured after the ban went into effect but before it expired had to be marked LEO only if it was sold in the US. This ban is no longer in effect, but as far as NY state law I can't tell you what the deal was or is. Keep in mind that is from my memory so double check before you buy.

Living in the liberal, socialist state of New York I can say with full confidence that N.Y. has it's own state law that is quite the same as the expired federal ban.
High cap mags and folding stocks are not allowed.

As to being able to tell one mag from the other it isn't possible as far as I know. I guess the ones for sale here at gun shows are all pre ban as that is what the vendors tell you.

.303 BR Enfields can be purchased and are sold in California because they are listed as "antiquated" and not new production. May not be able to buy in state or out of state clips tho'(?).

Sorry, none of my rants go to your question on how to visually differentiate hi vs low capacity Glock or Beretta clips.

The reason I ask how to tell the difference because here in New York State we have a state ban on high capacity magazines that are not pre-NYban. Possession of one is a Class E Felony - do you believe this?

Stories are heard that the State Police have a book with descriptions and photos that tells them - not us how to tell the difference. And get this. This book is not available to civilians. So any guidance you people can give me would be much appreciated. If nobody knows, then my next step would be to contact Glock and Beretta.
