Fun at the range

Thought I'd get in some practice at the range today since I haven't been able to make any CAS matches so far this year, my daughters gave me some "Winchester Cowboy Action Loads" for my birthday and since I hadn't fired my "new" 1892 rifle thought using 'factory' rounds might be better than reloads (but at $46/box of 50 probably won't ever again!), thought I'd start with my SAA's, loaded 5 rds in each and started with 'right hand' pistol (Uberti Cattleman "Artillery" 5.5" charcol blue), 5 bangs & 5 holes in the target, next the 'left hand' pistol (Cimarron "Badlands" 4.75" matte finish), again 5 bangs & 5 holes but with a twist, after I fired #5 I noticed something hit the ground about 3 feet in front of me, made range safe and went to see what it was, there was the entire ejector assembly minus the screw which remains lost despite my crawling around on my hands & knees for 15 mins or so. Oh well, off to the gunsmith tomorrow.

Hope you didn't use bear grease instead of that new fangled loktite.

One of the odd things I've noticed with SA revolvers is the screws need to be tightened on a much more frequent basis than a DA revolver. Not sure why and it doesn't seem to be any one brand. Uberti, Pietta, Colt, ASFA, all seem to have a similar problem. Locktite or even shellac helps.
